Stress Free Living Is the Key to Success

Stress management is a great technique which if learned by the individual enhances the efficiency and get wanted results. A little bit of stress is necessary for everyone and if you don’t feel it there is something wrong with you, but it should be in limit. Excessive stress is not at all good for health and have fatal effects on the body and mind. For defence aspirants as I have already told earlier in other articles that proper coordination between the two will only get you through, you need to be alert that you are not working or living under stress. The excess effect of stress could be depression and later the end result is death. 


Managing stress is not at all difficult. Follow these 6 simple mantras and live happily to move towards your goals:
  • Change the conditions: Life is not always the way we wanted. Everyone dreams big and thinks of a good life but get only a portion of it. Good and bad move together, so everything is not in our hand. Knowing this we should not be demotivated but should form the priority list and complete our work whole heartedly with our full calibre. Results will just follow you. Also interpersonal skills needs to be developed and you should balance your work life.
  • Think open heartedly: Values are integral part of your personality and they should not be changed for whatever you get. They are given to you by your parents and needs to be kept intact. Remember you should see the bigger picture foe each and every situation and not the small gains. Think big and get big is the key here.

  • Change the situations: Time is the essential commodity and we should spend it wisely as whatever is lost will never be back to us. Also we should be ready to analyse the situations that fall our way , should ask for help if it could not be tackled lonely and help others when they need us.
  • Take time for relaxation and fun: Do spare time for whatever you like. Regular routine make life monotonous and its difficult to tackle situations because our heart and mind stops working. When you enjoy your leisure time in your own way you tend to come out of situations and become stress free. Spending time with family, friends and loved ones also help a lot in reducing stress level in body.
  • Healthy living makes you stress free: Life is the most precious commodity. If it is with you, only then you can enjoy other things. Keeping yourself fit is thus important which could be achieved through regular exercise, yoga, meditation. These numerous scientific exercises regulate your body functionalities and you tend to stay away from diseases.
  • Accept, whatever cannot be changed: Do not try to regulate everything. Change is part of life and don’t try to modify others behaviour, habits. Few things are not in your hand and learn to accept them as whatever and however they are. This will reduce your mental stress because it will avoid unnecessary thinking process and you will enjoy the real essence of living accommodating everyone along with you.
Yes…. it’s that simple to follow these mantras and force you energy towards positivity and do creative working. So why you are still stressed.

Recently Indian Army has published the notification of SSC 44th and SSCW 15th. SSC 44 and SSCW 15 are a technical entry for engineering male and female graduates, respectively. Candidates who are eligible for SSC 44 and SSC 15 entry based on the eligibility criteria mentioned below can apply for this entry through joinindianarmy.nic.in online portal. All shortlisted candidates for SSC 44 and SSC 15 will get a call letter from Indian army to attend SSB interview at one of the selection centre ie. Allahabad, Bhopal and Bangalore.

Educational Qualification SSC 44th and SSCW 15th

For Engineers (Men and Women). Candidates studying in the Final Year of Engineering Degree and who are qualified graduates of the Degree Course in Engineering will be eligible to apply. The qualified graduates of the Degree Course must possess Engineering Degree at the time of joining training. The candidates studying in the final year of Degree Course, if not already in possession of the Degree Certificate should be able to produce the Engineering Degree within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at OTA. Such candidates will be inducted for training at OTA on Additional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost of training as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate.

How to Apply for SSC 44th and SSCW 15th Notification

  • Application will only be accepted online. To do so the candidates needs to click on the “online application” button on website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
  • The online form is self explanatory please follow the instruction terms and conditions given on the form.
  • Filling up of online application : Visit website joinindianarmy.nic.in and proceed as follows:-
    • Click on Officers Menu button. Go to How to apply button and then click apply online for the particular entry on the home page.
    • Fill the online registration form. Tips to assist in filling up fields have been provided as you click on each field.
    • While filling online application it is advisable to keep the relevant documents readily available as details are to be filled as per matriculation and other educational certificates.
    • Before clicking the submit button it should be checked whether all details entered in the form are correct as you will not be able to make any corrections after saving the record.
    • After submitting the form and acknowledgement of successful submission generated roll number the buttons of print and save the application will appear. It is advisable to first save the online application and then take a print out.
    • After submitting online application, candidates are required to obtain two copies of the application printout. One copy of print out application duly signed and affixed photograph attested by Gazetted Officer thereon and 10th Class certificate,12th Class certificate, Degree/Provisional Degree and mark sheets of eight semesters of B.E/B.Tech, all in original along with two attested photocopies of all the above certificates are to be carried out to the Selection Centre by the candidate. Original will be returned after verification by the Selection Centre. The second copy of the print out of online application is to be retained by the candidate for his reference. No need to send any hard copy to DG Rtg / Rtg Dte.
    • Candidates must submit only one application. Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature.
  • Any change in your postal address after submission of application must be communicated by post duly quoting your Roll No., Name and course opted for.
  • Original Certificate should not be attached with the application form. Directorate General of Recruiting , Adjutant General’s Branch, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army) will not take responsibility for loss of original certificates, if attached with application. Photo should be pasted and not stapled . Attestation made on the back side of the photo will not be entertained.

    Screening or Stage one testing is the first step towards achieving your aim but 60% candidates do not make it to next stage.  All candidates are familiar with this because everyone has to face this. If we obtain the feedback on screening test, we will get very vague answers from candidates as none of them is sure how he got through or failed. If we analyze the trend invariably you will find majority of candidates do not pay attention towards preparation for screening test and in the end, they blame the group as he was not given opportunity to speak during the discussion.

    If we analyze the stage one testing, it can be divided in four stages:
    • Verbal and Non-Verbal test – Individual Level
    • Picture Perception Test – individual Level
    • Story Narration – Individual Level
    • Group Discussion – Individual Performance in a Group
    On analyzing these stages, these are inter related and lead to clearing your screening part where as candidate think only group discussion is important because he is judged by assessors accordingly he gives more weight age to this part which is not the case. During group discussion test, assessors are not aware of your performance in IQ test and clearing screening test is a combination of IQ as well as performance in Group Discussion. For ease of understanding, I will elaborate these stages so that you can handle these stages effectively.
    1. Verbal and Non-verbal Test –  This test is conducted to calculate your IQ level in numerical form which is important not only for your screening but plays important role in stage two testing as well. Most of the questions are basic in nature. First step identify the types of questions you will come across, thereafter, practice to identify your problem area. After identifying your problem area you must overcome your problem so that you score best IQ rating. Secondly speed is the key issue practice as many test consisting 40 to 50 questions to improve your speed. Generally you get half the time of total no. questions. Lastly there is no negative marking. Scoring good rating will have good impact on interview and psych test performance.

    2. Picture perception Test – This test can be prepared along with TAT the stage two test as there is no difference in story writing between screen and stage two except the initial part wherein you have to describe theme and no. of characters.
    3. Narration of Story – Once you complete your picture perception you must read what you have written and when you go out must practice for narration part so that you do not miss out anything important and confidence is the key issue while narrating it and make eye contact with group members.
    4. Group Discussion – After narrating your story, you must pay due attention to other’s stories and identify the few good ones. During discussion you have to give ideas towards achievement of group aim, appreciate other’s view rather appreciate your own story. Speak sense and if get a chance narrate group common story. Dress up properly.

    The morning of 21 June 2014 saw the officer who graduated thirty nine years ago, come back as Chief Guest to review the Combined Graduation Parade at Air Force Academy, Dundigal. Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, Chief of the Air Staff reviewed the Combined Graduation Parade of 193 flight cadets belonging to Pilot, Navigation and Ground Duty streams.


    Congratulating the passing out course, the Air Chief said, “It is a matter of great honour to review the Combined Graduation Parade and welcome these fine men and women into the Indian Air Force as military leaders and aviators. My congratulations to the officers who have been awarded the President’s Commission this morning, an honour which you have earned through hard work and on successful completion of a demanding training curriculum. My felicitations to the six officers of the Indian Navy for earning their coveted ‘Wings’.

    With a distinguished training record to its credit, The Air Force Academy (AFA) is at the vanguard of a comprehensive upgrade in IAF’s training pattern and infrastructure. This Academy has successfully inducted and operationalised the PC-7 Mk II as IAF’s Basic Trainer Aircraft and has ushered in an era of modern flying training with high standards of safety and reliability.
    The President’s Plaque and the Chief of the Air Staff Sword of Honour for standing first in overall order of merit in Pilot’s Course was awarded to Flying Officer Anil Kumar while Flying Officer Durgesh Kumar and Flying Officer Satheesh Kumar were awarded the President’s Plaque for standing first in overall order of merit in Ground Duties Branches and Navigation Branch respectively.
    On his arrival at the Air Force Academy on 20 Jun 2014, Air Chief was received by Air Marshal PS Gill, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command and Air Marshal RG Burli, Commandant, Air Force Academy. He attended the Ceremonial Guest Night with the graduating cadets and their parents, where he also awarded trophies to those cadets who excelled in their respective branches.

    Applications are invited from UNMARRIED MALE CANDIDATES (fulfilling the conditions of nationality as laid down by the Govt of India) to join the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala under the 10+2 Cadet (B Tech) Entry Scheme.

    Eligibility Conditions 10+2 B.Tech Cadet Entry

    • Age. 17 to 19½ years (i.e. born between 02 Jul 1995 & 01 Jan 1998 (both dates inclusive).
    • Educational Qualification. Passed Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 Pattern) or its equivalent from University/Board with at least 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English (either in Class X or Class XII).
    • Physical Standards.
    • Height and Weight. Minimum height – 157 cms with correlated weight as per age.
      • Eye Sight. The minimum acceptable vision standards for distant vision is 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses. Should not be colour/night blind.
      • Tattoo. Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face or forearms i.e from inside of elbow to the wrist end on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and candidates will be barred from further selection.

    Note:- There will be no relaxation in physical standards.

    Physical courage is concerned with danger to the person, in physical terms while mental courage comes into being when one does something which one thinks must be done due to his conscientiousness even at the cost of accepting losses / initial adversities. It is difficult to imagine military leaders without physical and mental courage.  A commander has to lead his men willingly into the battle-field full of danger.  He has to display calmness, firmness and self-control in the face of heavy odds.  He cannot turn back from his mission because of danger or hardship.  He must gain full control over his emotions.  Even the slightest sign of fear in a leader will force the men he commands to suspect the leaders ability to lead form the front and dilute his leadership. Therefore, courage is an essential quality to face dangers and win the war.  It can be acquired by exposing oneself to harder life and doing what one thinks is correct.  Courage can be developed to some extent by ambition and inspiration.

    Steps to Improve Physical and Mental Courage:

    1. Lay out Goals: Keep body, mind and soul spiritually tuned up by daily periods of exercise and keep faith in God.  Visualize health and wholeness and entertain no negative thoughts about yourself.  Work towards being physically fit and mentally alert in solving problems arising in college, at work or in society.
    2. Composure: Relaxation / meditation and regular exercise keeps one composed.
    3. Get Inspired: Sports, travel, music, art, stimulating friends, good books and nature contribute to inspirational living.  Participate in adventure activities and rejuvenate yourself.
    4. Overcome Fear: Picture yourself as boldly attacking and overcoming your fears. Perseverance pays.  The very moment you decide that nothing shall defeat you, from that instant NOTHING CAN DEFEAT YOU.
    5. Believe: As you train your mind to believe, everything tends to move out of the area of the impossible into that of possible.  Think, believe, and visualize success.
    6. Enthusiasm can do wonders for you: Look for interest and romance in the simplest things about you. Enthusiasm will drown fear of failure and lift up performance.
