How to Choose a Best SSB Coaching Academy In 2025

7

The Services Selection Board (SSB) interview is an integral part of the selection process for the Indian Armed Forces. It is a five-day long interview process that evaluates the candidates on various parameters, including intelligence, personality, and character. While the SSB interview is not a test of knowledge, it does require candidates to possess certain qualities, such as leadership, decision-making, and communication skills. Therefore, SSB coaching plays a crucial role in preparing candidates for the interview process.

There are many coaching centers that offer SSB coaching. However, it is essential to choose a coaching center that has a proven track record of success and is staffed by experienced and knowledgeable trainers. The best SSB coaching centers are those that provide a comprehensive and structured training program that covers all aspects of the SSB interview process.

Some of the factors that make a coaching center the best for SSB coaching are:

  1. Experienced Trainers: The trainers should be experienced professionals who have themselves cleared the SSB interview process or attempted multiple SSB interviews and have an in-depth understanding of the selection criteria.
  2. Structured Training Program: The coaching center should have a structured training program that covers all aspects of the SSB interview process, including the psychological tests, group discussions, and personal interviews.
  3. Individual Attention: The coaching center should provide individual attention to each candidate and focus on their strengths and weaknesses.
  4. Practice Sessions: The coaching center should conduct regular practice sessions, including mock tests and group discussions, to give the candidates a hands-on experience of the SSB interview process.
  5. Feedback and Counseling: The coaching center should provide regular feedback and counseling to the candidates to help them identify their strengths and weaknesses and work on areas that need improvement.
  6. Course Material: The coaching center should provide high-quality course material that covers all aspects of the SSB interview process and is regularly updated.
  7. Success Rate: The coaching center should have a high success rate in terms of the number of candidates who have cleared the SSB interview and been selected for the Indian Armed Forces.

Guidance has always proved to be good. SSB Coachings are a form of guidance that helps in bringing out the best of a candidate. In today’s tough competitive world, where every field demands perfection, it is very essential to get good guidance. SSB is no different. As soon as SSB dates come, many candidates rush to join coaching’s seeking guidance for SSB. But they fail to understand the thin line between guidance and able guidance. SSB Interview coachings are helpful for SSB, especially for the Freshers who don’t have the slightest idea about SSB. But it is equally important to choose the best SSB academy, in order to get the best thing. Joining merely any coaching will be more of a disaster than a help. Here is a guide to help you in choosing a good academy for your SSB preparation.

After the Covid-19 pandemic, more candidates are preferring to prepare from home through online courses. All SSB Coaching Academies mentioned above are good for:

  • NDA Exam Written Coaching
  • SSB Interview Coaching
  • AFSB Interview Coaching
  • CDS Exam Written Coaching
  • PABT Test Coaching
  • AFCAT Written Test Coaching
  • Indian Air Force SSB Interview
  • Indian Navy SSB Interview
  • Indian Army SSB Interview
  • TGC, SSC, UES, TES, NCC, ACC, PCSL SSB Coaching.

But, if you are planning to go for an offline coaching academy, do look for these points.

DO NOT JOIN LOSERS: There is a trend happening in India, every second day a new academy is opening and a new master is coming on social media, FB, Youtube with lectures, few of them are retired assessors who talk different things about SSB, they show something deep random psychological CRAP to lure candidates, as if the candidates want to become a DRDO Psychologist and not an officer and candidates believe that these ex-assessors know something which others do not know or they have some magical formula which was hidden for so long, candidates keep grabbing such deep psychological things which only a psychologist must know, this is like putting too much CRAP in your brain which is not required for the SSB interview, this only confuses candidates more.

There are few if not all, newborn ex-SSB assessors who are heard talking BAD about others just to show themselves as good. DO NOT JOIN SUCH PEOPLE. All defence aspirants must avoid joining anyone who talks badly about other SSB academies (especially those who are successful and because these fools want to be like successful academies or websites like SSBCrack without hard work. Such ex-assessors have no moral value and they seriously do not have a clue about someone else’s hard work, they portray themselves like philanthropist who is doing social service, but for them, it is just a business to get the money out of candidates, they are doing to the same what other academies are doing but successful people do not talk bad about other academies, so join a successful academy and not a newborn loser who is spreading hate and negativity in your mind.

Distance: The distance of the academy from your house/place of stay matters. In case you are lucky enough to live in the same city then it’s all right but if you are living in some other city then distance might become a constraint. One another way is that if you are having a fixed SSB date then you might go to the academy in that city where your SSB is, and directly go for SSB from there.

Feedback: One of the best ways to pick out a good academy is to get feedback from other aspirants. They might be your friends or persons you met in any SSB Blog. Don’t go on the advertisements and success rates; they might be misleading since each one of them is promising the same. The best way is to talk about the academy from a known person.

Assessors: Generally the academies are opened up by the retired Defense Personals. You can also do some research on their previous records. Make sure they have different assessors for each test. Most of the newborn academies lack many things like assessors.

Ground: Many academies are opened in a place like an apartment, do not waste your time there, instead get a book and read. Do not make joke out of SSB coaching. Make sure whatever academy you join have proper GTO ground and not a rooftop for GTO task.

Fee & Course Duration: The fees for most of them are same, especially the BIG academies, they have a set duration of the course as well i.e. 15 days.

Lodging and food: This will matter only if you are going out of your home city for the coaching. The big one’s offer their own hostel and food at minimal cost, however if you have a relative then, do I need to say more!

Final Year problems: In case you are still in your college/school, then that means you have an additional burden of studies, I would advise to leave the studies and out them on a second priority and give full focus on SSB. Coaching will hardly take 15 days, but you should be willing enough to leave your classes and focus on coaching, you can make up for the attendance later. However, if the case is that you can’t leave your studies for a while then learn to manage in adversities (It is also an OLQ).

Mother or the Daughter: This is the problem with academies having branches all over India. Well you might get confused about which one to choose, the original one (mother) or the branch (daughter), well it depends on the performance, gets feedback from the pass-outs of that academy, considers the nearest branch, but it is seen that the original one is always the better one.

After Coaching Support: You should look for an academy that can be called up to clarify anything even after your course is over.

Big names vs. Small ones: Go for the one which suits you in all aspects. Brands are definitely the best but you can never underestimate the power of anything. Hence look for the things which you want and then join a good academy.

How I Cleared My AFCAT Exam

AFCAT 2/2013 was the third time I sat for writing AFCAT, having cleared it for the previous two attempts, I was quite sure that I’ll again crack it because of my preparation. As expected I did clear it. I would like to share with you all the preparation strategy I had adopted for AFCAT.

English: Since English is not something to be prepared in a day, I am in continuous touch of reading English books, novels, journals and newspaper. Reading makes it easier to understand the comprehension passage and answer accordingly. Reading also makes you come across various new words and out of curiosity you look for their meaning in the dictionary. Keeping a dictionary with you is as important as having water. To practice more I would suggest you to follow the book ‘English for Competitive Examinations’, written by Edgar Thorpes and Showick Thorpe and published by Pearson Education.

How I Cleared My AFCAT 2/2013

Also Read
General Awareness: In AFCAT you are asked more about the medals and special achievements of Indian sports in the sports section, hence I kept a record of all the medals won by Indians in important sports. Revising your basic science and history is enough for the portions on them. They also always ask a question on any recent missile, submarine, aircraft hence I have made a list of that as well (this helps in SSB also). I have kept myself aware of the major awards and their recipients, this helps in answering questions based on awards and honors.  It helps a lot in preparing for GK if you are a continuous newspaper reader. Although the facts asked in AFCAT are mostly not very current but almost 1-2 years old.

Math: Revising the basic formulas of ratio and proportion, Profit loss, unitary method, percentage, simple interest and other algebra formula is enough for math. The questions are simple asking only for basic intelligence.
Reasoning: I have practiced reason from the book “A Modern Approach To Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning”, by Dr. RS Aggarwal and published by S. Chand Publications. It offers a variety of questions with a huge number of questions. You can get both verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions from this book.

What To Prepare After Clearing AFCAT and How?

Congratulations first of all to all those of you who have cleared the AFCAT Now the question is what next? The written test is only the first step in the ladder of climbing up to the Indian Airforce. There are many more steps yet to come, and it’s always good to start preparing much beforehand to avoid last minute problems.

Especially those who are Fresher’s must be very curious and excited to know that what all they must prepare. Hence here are few things which you can start preparing after clearing this written test.

Reservation

This is the first thing you need to look for. Going for such an important interview demands that your journey must be trouble free and comfortable. Hence you must look for the reservations of the date you have chosen for the SSB. In case the reservations are not yet open, make a note of when they’ll get open, what all trains you can go for (in case of long journey), or at least decide the option you’ll take for your journey ( bus/train etc.).

Documents

Keep your entire documents ready, once you have generated your call letter, go through the documents required, their photocopies needed, attestation etc. This will give you time to get the document which you don’t have with you for e.g. Provisional degree etc. Don’t forget the photographs.
GK: In the interview your GK and current affairs will boost your confidence a lot. Keep yourself updated with the recent national, international news and form your opinion on important issues, be in regular touch with the newspaper. This will help in GD, Lecturette etc.

Airforce and Military Awareness

You need to know about the basic working and strength of the forces. This includes important aircrafts, recent Defence deals etc.

Self-Awareness

Start knowing yourself better, your friends, family better. Think about the negative and positive points of self and family. You must be well aware of the details of your hobbies, the games you play or have played and you must have a clear idea of your percentage, achievements etc. You can read the frequent questions asked in the interview from our website and prepare yourself accordingly.

Practicing the Psych Test Series and Reasoning

Be in touch with the reasoning questions and practice the psych tests since they demand a strict time constraint.

Physical Exercise

You must look fit and do well in the GT series also. You can start going for a jog in the morning or you can do light exercise. This will increase your stamina and also improve your gait and body language. A sound mind resides in a sound body has not been said in vain.

Dress and Other Essentials

Make a list of all what you require for the AFSB interview. Then strike out the thing you have and arrange for the once you don’t. Look for the appropriate dress and shoes and try them. Be comfortable in your white shoes hence practice running in them since you have you do a lot of physical work in them.

Public Speaking and English

Though last on this list this is of utmost importance. The whole AFSB is about public speaking. Hence you must start practicing speaking in English at once. Speak in English with friends and family this will remove your shyness and help in boosting up confidence. Practicing lecturette is the best way to improve public speaking and English.

Its Your Dream, You Have To Make It True

Its Your Dream, You Have To Make It True
Hie! I am Garima Puniani, A defense aspirant like you all. I would like to Share my story with you, not guidance but the experience, for a realization that nothing is impossible if you have made an aim in life. I have lived my entire life (till now) in Chandigarh, and none of my family member is into defense, not even in 3 generations. Since my childhood whenever I used to see a defense personal, I used to wonder who all these people are and how they are selected.  Are they from different world or something? As I grew up my myths changed as I made friends who were from defense background, I used to go to their places. Meet their families, but still, a feeling was there, this life is something way beyond you could imagine in civilian cadre. There was prestige, honor, and most of all. A good life!

This all inspired me to make an aim in life that one day even I will be there.  And I was in my 8th class.
Time came and went by. With luck or destiny, I took non-medical, got a good score in my 12th, took civil engg , but back in my mind, I knew one day I have to make it in defense forces only!
When I came into my final year, time came for me to apply for Indian Air Force! I cleared the AFCAT and went for my ssb at afsb Dehradun on 21st November 2012! I was screened in in batch of 87 selected out of 168. I was given chest no 19. Being a defense aspirant, though I did not take any formal coaching from any institute but went to a rtd. Col for some guidance as what happens at ssb.

Allahabad Recommended Female candidates

Believe me even if you go with no training you are equivalent to the one who has taken training because it is all so new , you cannot learn anything from anywhere. The ssb judge you for what REAL you are, and not what you portray, they know exactly what kind of people come over there and how to judge them , so do not play smart with them. I did mistakes in my story writing about which I came to know later, though rest of the words and SRT went well, but I believe stories play an important part in judging one’s personality! The GTO were good. Being a sports person I was able to do 7/8 individual, GD and GPE were good, but progressive group task did not go well, our batch did not work as a team, which I feared was a negative. I did not work as a team. My interview went for more than 1 hr, which I came to know later, was not a good thing because I blabbered out many things which I shouldn’t have. I did not know many things about Airforce, which I should have, my G.k. was poor and I wasn’t prepared for the interview at all, which I realized later.  My conference took time, there was a time gap in me going to the room and my preceding one leaving the room, so that meant I was a border line case. They asked me about my achievement and about my hobbies and how I managed time with things, I was Conference out from my 1st SSB because of my over confidence only!
I was shattered, it was my dream to make it to in defense forces, but it did not happen, but I wanted to make it into the forces. In January, my result for cdse-2 /2012 result came and I had cleared it! My spirits rose. I wanted to prove myself this time, in mean while I filled in for sscw tech as well as afcat. My SSB for cdse-2 came to Allahabad on 29th may 2013, only 57 girls had reported and 36 were screened it, but I was in one of those who were screened out, I couldn’t believe what had happened, in my life I had always wished to be in defense force but now the dream seemed so unreachable. I was sad but hopeful that it wasn’t my time, and my time will also come soon.
My 3rd SSB call came from Indian Airforce, at Mysore on 24th June 2013, I was screened in batch of 74 out of 169 with chest no 61 . The Very next day they took our PABT, in which I cleared the written and for battery aptitude they said they will give the result on conference day, then we had our psychology, for what joy I used to make someone die in my stories,  SRT and words went ok. I did most of them. 25th June as it was my birthday , I celebrated it with my whole SSB batch ,  we cut a cake at night and celebrated it with full spirit and enthusiasm, the whole batch sang songs for me. I must say it has been the best bday ever till date. My interview this time was taken by the president, and it approximately went for 1 hr, which went really well, he asked me some GK questions, I answered them well this time most of the interview was based upon SRT, which I managed well and I could see the president was impressed, what went wrong in SSB this time too was my GTO. Though, GD, and GPT went well, my progressive group task did not go well again. I had become either bossy, or was shouting out orders out things on other, which I realized in the end. My conference again went in for long asking me about the achievement and made me sure that I am again a border line case. I was again conferenced out from Airforce SSB and did not clear my PABT too, so luck wasn’t favoring me at all! My SSB ended on 29th June and I reached back Chandigarh on 2nd july!
With only 4 days gap, my next SSB was lined up at Allahabad. My Tech entry SSB on 7th July!  This was my last chance as my family had given me ultimatum to either make it or think of other options also. I had to make it in this time!
I was screened in 30 out of 81 girls in 11 SSB board. This time they made batch of repeaters’ and fresher’s together. I was given chest no. 1. Freaking Chest no. 1. The next day we had our psychology, which went well. I did not make the same mistake this time, did not make anyone die in my stories, words went absolutely fine and SRT I attempted 55-56. So over all this time psychology was better than ever. My interview was on the same day in fact 15 minutes after we completed our psych test. Since I was chest no. 1, I was the scapegoat. But to my amusement, my interview went very fine. Deputy president took my interview, and it went only for 20-25 minutes,  this time I could see the change in my answers, be it from guidance from others or your own experience, it went amazingly good, I was good with my g.k. I knew everything what I had written in my p.i.q. The g.to were perfect from team work to gd, gpe to lecture , all went fine. I did all my individual tasks,. Everything ended really well. This time from inside I had a feeling yes, I have done everything right. Conference went in for 10-20 seconds only. Deputy President presided over my conference. Be it a good batch or our luck, Out of 30 /9 girls were recommended from our batch. The medicals went well. I was given over weight by 8 kgs, which I had to reduce in 42 days, ask me, how difficult it is being a sports person, but I did it. I lost 10 kgs. Finally the Merit list came on 11th September and I have topped my stream. I am going to join OTA this 5th October.
I cannot explain the feeling I had when I made it to the merit. I feel content that, my parents, my family is so proud of me. It’s the hard work and never dying attitude that took me to here, so long, so far!
I hope I have not bored you all, thank you for your patience for reading it all!

Meet The Indian Air Force Delhi to Nagpur from 16 Sep - 05 Oct 13

An IAF Adventure team, comprising para sailing instructors, powered hang gliders and a microlight
aircraft, forms a part of the Drive. Selected students at each institute would be given a unique opportunity
to participate in para sailing at a suitable location in the vicinity, while some others would also get to visit a
nearby IAF base and soar to the skies in a microlight aircraft or Powered Hang Glider.

The drive would provide a great opportunity for students to experience glimpses of the adventurous
life that IAF offers and of avenues available as an IAF officer. For the IAF, this novel effort is a way of
reaching out to the youth by offering opportunities in aero sports at their doorstep; to make them more ‘air
minded’ and aware of the uniqueness of ‘Brand IAF’

Review of the AFCAT 2 2013 Written Results

Considering the tougher level of the paper it was expected that the cutoff might go down, but so down was certainly not expected. The cut-off this time is the lowest cut-off in the AFCAT history, lucky for many of us who got in. IAF has certainly raised the bar by raising the level of the question paper, but the intake remains the same considering the lower cut-offs.
Good luck to those who made it, be careful while choosing your date and venue of AFSB interview, since it’s on you to choose so make sure it doesn’t coincides with any other exam/interview which you might have in future. Those of you who didn’t make it, hard luck this time, but prepare hard for the next time, you’ll sure make it after all “Girte hain shehsawar hi maidaine jung mein”.

Individual Obstacles In Army and Airforce SSB

I.O. also know as Individual Obstacles is one of the tasks of the GTO series, generally conducted on the first day of GTO testing. Sometimes it could be conducted on the second day, depending on the weather and mood of the officer. As the name suggest this task is performed by each member of the group, individually.
The purpose of this test is to check ability, physical toughness, stamina level, courage, determination, acrophobia (fear of heights), it also checks how fast you can make choice and execute it. There are total 10 tasks and time bound is 3 min. one can repeat the task if he is able to complete all 10 obstacles before 3 min. all obstacles are marked from 1 to 10, more task a candidate complete more his marks will be. You need to maintain a good stamina level. It is not necessary to start the tasks from 1st, but it is left to the wish of the candidate where does he want to start from. Army and Navy SSB has same IO tasks but there are few differences between I.O. in army and air force selection centres.

SSB Interview Dress Code For Women Candidates

1

Dressing forms an important part of a person’s personality and especially when it comes to Interviews and such formal occasions, an appropriate dress is very necessary. SSB is one such place, where your dressing reflects your personality to some extent. Since it is a very formal occasion, hence proper care must be taken in order to wear the right dress throughout. Here are some dressing guidelines for our women aspirants who are going to appear in the SSB, for the kind of dress which can be worn. Although I have seen people coming in jeans and tees getting through and pure formals getting out, so it’s your performance that matters the most, but your dress completes your personality.

For Screening Day

You can wear formal trouser/jeans along with a smart shirt or a decent top or even salwar-kurta, or jeans-kurti, you can wear sport shoes or formal shoes as your wish. There is no such necessity to wear formal attire for screening but it’s better and safer since you have to appear in front of the Board members. For Psychological Tests: In this you can wear anything decent, like western or Indian as per your wish.

For GT Series

It is explicitly mentioned to wear white sports kit. You can wear a white sports lower (if you are not finding one buy a black/grey sports lower, but do try hard for a white one), white polo T-shirts are best option for uppers, you can go for a tracksuit as well. Don’t forget to take a windcheater or any jacket if your SSB falls in winter time. Women are allowed to wear even white salwar along with white kurta and I have seen some wearing white shorts as well, along with white t-shirt. Get a white sport shoes and practice running in that so you are comfortable, white tennis (school PT shoes) are cheap and best, if you a shoe with some tint of other color it is acceptable.

For Interview and conference

SSB Interview Dress Code For Women Candidates

Be very particular about wearing formal attire in interview & conference. Formal can be Western or Indian. Wear light colored shirt and dark trouser if you going for a western formal, don’t wear very fancy clothes, and be simple and decent. You can wear a salwar-kurta for Indian, make sure to wear proper and normal salwar and no chudidar’s or leggings, they don’t qualify as formals, only simple salwar which are included in school dresses are formals, try to wear a simple cotton suit, with no fancy works etc. You must accompany your dress with proper formal shoes, which must be in black color, wear a black socks (in western attires), don’t go for heeled shoes, only a minimal heel is acceptable. You can put a necktie if you are wearing a western formal (optional). Even sarees are permissible. Wear the clothes in which you are comfortable. For e.g.: don’t go for Western formals if you are not habitual and comfortable in it, Interview is a long time process hence you must be comfortable in your dress.   For other purposes, mess etc.: Remember you will not be allowed in slippers outside your room, so carry a sandal or shoe which you can easily put up at fall-in time or while going for mess. Carry decent clothes which are according to the season.
