Indian Air Force is an Apt Choice for your Career

career in Indian Air Force

The dreams of a young boy for his future life are many – but I had only one. All I wanted to do was fly. The exploits of the Keelor brothers in the 1965 Indo-Pak war and the victory in 1971 still gave me the goosebumps. There was nothing else I wanted to do but join the Indian Air Force (IAF).

The three years at the National Defence Academy gave me the basics of being a warrior and the Air Force Academy my coveted ‘Wings’. To this day I remember the exhilaration of getting off the ground on my first solo flight in the venerable HT-2 trainer aircraft-I, just kept laughing, possibly it was the thrill of being free from gravity and being all alone in the air.

The past 35 years in the IAF have whizzed past, but every day brought something new and challenging with it. The thrill of being the first to land on the Siachen Glacier way back in 1978, the sense of achievement in evacuating casualties right from the border, helping our brethren in natural calamities, becoming a flying instructor, flying new aircraft on becoming a test pilot, representing our nation abroad in training courses, seminars and in a United Nations peacekeeping mission, and leading men and women as a base commander- the tasks have been multifarious and stimulating.

There has never been a dull moment – the challenges keep coming, as the Air Force continuously evaluates and hones its capabilities to meet the requirements of our Nation’s defence and other tasks in aid to civil power.

Join Indian Air Force

The aviation field is highly technical and scientific. With the revolution in computing sciences and the advancement in technology, the IAF retains its edge in the business of war fighting due to its superb engineers and technical manpower. The bulwark of support to do all this is provided by the dedicated administrative branches who work efficiently behind the scenes.

Are we paid well? The answer is that there is enough to have a comfortable living, give a good upbringing to our children, build a house, have a good vacation with family and still have sufficient for the rainy day.

Frequent moves on posting? It happens sometimes for operational reasons, though the organisation goes out of its way to give as much stability as possible. And as part of the package comes a social life, camaraderie, facilities for higher education, self-development, sports, adventure and a sense of contentment that no other service can offer. Does anyone still want me to answer the proverbial question, what I would like to be in my next life?                                            — Air Vice Marshal M Bahadur VM

Importance of Listening in Communication

0
Importance of communication in SSB Interview

The very first test at SSB a Screening test is a nightmare for many of us. After being screened out the very first day I am sure it haunts us the most and though being a simple test it seems very tough to us.

The obvious reason is Fail to Screen In. There are several reasons for being screen out but one of the most important factor is poor Communication. Communication plays very crucial part in screening process. It definitely gives you an edge in Narration, in Discussion. Yes speaking is the front end of Communication but here I will focus on other side of communication i.e. LISTENING.
During Group discussion everyone wants to speak. Yes it’s good to participate in discussion but it is obvious that when everyone is speaking together it create ruckus and group leads to nowhere. Everyone wants to speak because everyone wants to get screened in no one wants to go home the very first day and this pushes us to Speak Speak & Speak. but what we fail to understand is Communication is two way process there has to be give and take in order to communicate well. Hence Listening is very important at G.D.

I would like to share few points which will surely help to improve your Listening.
  1. Listen Aggressively: Ask right question at the right moment. Asking the question makes the process 2 ways. It connects you with the speaker and remembers people will listen to you when first you will listen to them.
  2. Do not label the person you are speaking to:  If you label the person what happen is either you will consider him inferior or superior to you and in both way you will not give importance to his ideas and hence no scope of Communication is there.
  3. Stop wondering what to say: Most of the time we are so involved in our own thoughts that we don’t focus on what speaker is saying hence receptivity decreases. While someone is speaking we are constantly lost in our own thoughts. We are busy in framing our narration.
  4. Don’t jump to Conclusion: Listen the whole content extract whatever point you feel are important for you.

Now let’s see what difference these points can make in your SSB.

Very first day you have to face Screening Interview. As we already know Communication play vital role in Narration and Group Discussion. First of all if you are good at Listening you get more and more ideas while listening to others narration. You can get to know how many people have same theme of story as yours as a result you already have a support group and By chance if your story doesn’t match to anyone still you can have idea where majority of people are going and you can join them and improve your chances of Selection. Put it in a practical way, Suppose you are Officer of Army and you are planning for capturing a Bunker with your fellow officer. Surely there has to give and take of ideas among fellow officer. You won’t expect any Officer just boasting his own ideas and neglecting everyone’s idea. Then question arise what tends us to keep forcing our own ideas and not listening to anyone else. Answer is simple Its pressure of getting Selected so once if you remove this pressure upon yourself  Receptivity improves which in turn improves your Communication and finally a selection.

After successful Screening you will go through 2 G.D. , Group Planning so same set of rules apply…Speak and Listen and maintain good balance of Listening and accepting ideas and Speaking and adding value to group ideas.

Again at Personal interview listening to question is very important.

This are the few points which will improve your Communication and when you have a good communication there are fair chances of you of getting Screened In. Hope this ideas help you to perform better at screening and if you find this ideas worthy I invite you to my Blog and Facebook page.

How To Convert CGPA to Marks for TGC and SSC Tech

    15

Most of the candidates are facing problem while filling TGC online application form, one of the major problem in converting CGPA to Marks. CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average and it is an average of grade points obtained on all the subjects or semesters. But, it may also confuse engineering students on whether they need to fill CGPA for all semesters or for individual semester.

It is quite confusing actually, in TGC online application form one need to put CGPA for each individual semester. Not only that, candidates having CGPA structure, need to convert their grades in marks. Again different university may have a different conversion key and candidates are suggested to contact their respective university.

We are not sure about which conversion key you need to follow but here are few suggestion you can take:

    • Contact your college or university and ask them how to convert CGPA into Marks.
    • Check your university website, you may find more details on CGPA to marks conversion.
    • Follow the standard CGPA to Marks conversion key.

How to Convert CGPA to Marks ( first read the disclaimer below)

    CGPA/DGPA to Marks :
    Let:
    CGPA/DGPA obtained in 1st Semester = 9.42
    CGPA/DGPA obtained in 2nd Semester = 8.74
    CGPA/DGPA obtained in 3rd Semester = 9

    Conversion:
    Sem I  = 9.42 X 9.5 = 89.49
    Sem II = 8.74 X 9.5 = 83.03
    Sem III= 9 X 9.5 = 85.5

    CGPA to Equivalent Percentage

    • 4-point credit system, the procedure is CGPA*18+20 = Equivalent percentage
      • If CGPA is 3.00, then the equivalent percentage = 3.00*18+30=74%
    • 10-point grading system, the procedure is CGPA*9.3 = Equivalent percentage
      • If CGPA is 9.00 then the equivalent percentage = 9.00*9.3=83.

Sample TGC CGPA to Marks Conversion:

    tgc+118+cgpa+to+marks+percentage
    Just for reference

Disclaimer: If you are following this post for your CGPA to Marks conversions, SSBCrack and its team will not be responsible for any problem that may occur in your TGC candidature. We suggest you to refer any official source before converting your CGPA.
