The previous part talks about the various statistics that clearly prove that you are entering a zone where competition is tough, but don’t worry nothing is impossible as you have the strength to think of serving the motherland which many of our citizen can never afford to think. Moreover your name is there in the list where you will sure shortly receive the call, so you are edge above many. The following things should be practice now without wastage of any time

Tips For Sure Shot Selection In TGC 123 SSB – Part 2

  • Time management: this is really very essential that proper planning of things need to be done and implementation is recorded. Proper following of the timeline can help cover maximum in minimum time and can lead to fulfillment of dream early I life there is no use of starting late and keep repeating things as in such a case person loses seniority. Things should be prioritised as per the requirement of exam and then the schedule should be made.
  • What to start with? : This is the very first question hovering in the minds of aspirants as they read different things in some books and blogs. Also there are many people online to misguide them. Please ensure you get in touch with only genuine resources so that your personality remains intact and it’s not degraded. You have to start with self-introspection without getting started with wat, tat, srt, etc. as first you need to understand what you really have and what you need to have. There is a set of defined parameters at which the aspirants are judged and if self-introspection is properly done aspirant is half ready for the battle.
Tips For Sure Shot Selection In TGC 121 SSB - Part 2
  • How to do? : There are various tools that are available for it. I personally guide many aspirants with the help of some of the tools that I have developed. Remember this can be done yourself also if you have sufficient knowledge about psychology and related things. Also once the self-introspection is over where you really need to revisit your life, aspirant is ready to learn the concepts and expectations at the exam. If anyone is looking for guidance remember to take individual guidance as when you are part of large group there might be loss of individual personality as in SSB which is individualistic exam there is no right or wrong answer for any particular story or word. If things are properly linked to your personality work is almost done as psych and PI is something where you need to give individual performance which can differ from person to person.
  • Now start what comes in exam: once you know about yourself a mild practice of all the rounds, study of do’s and don’ts can help you finishing your preparation. Don’t start in the reverse order as human personality is something complex to understand and slight deviation can lead to unwanted results. Over practicing of things can also lead to unwanted ideas in exam which can degrade performance, so balance everything.

Hope these points help in preparing better and achieving what is wanted.

Tips For Sure Shot Selection In TGC 123 SSB – Part 1

With the release of centre allotment list by the Indian army for its TGC entry I have been receiving mix response from the aspirants. Some are happy to see their names in the list and have stopped preparing as if this is the merit list of IMA, Some are still in dilemma how their name can come in the list and are confused what to do while other few are now waiting for the call letter or some other kind of confirmation. Please be informed, once your name has been shortlisted for the SSB, the main battle will be now in clearing the SSB. My advice will be to start working on your personality as soon you will be issued with the dates for SSB and there will be few lucky one who’s SSB will fall soon within a month or so. So don’t wait for the dates, just start working for the SSB. This week is full of many exams like CDS and AFCAT which are other gateways to get a call for SSB, so do proper time management to take both the things together.

In fact you should take both things together as SSB is something which need personality improvement and believe me it’s not that easy as it needs a lot of time. Moreover preparation of SSB is not some rocket science which needs lot of time every day, if things are taken properly under expert guidance half to one hour every day is more than sufficient for success. Don’t be horrified to see a long list of thirty thousand aspirants who have been shortlisted for this entry as this shortlist is purely based on academic qualification cut-off applied by the headquarter. You are entering a very tough competition as out of these thirty thousand some lucky sixty will be the officers as per the vacancy for this entry.

You yourself can gauge the toughness of competition as almost five hundred aspirants are fighting for one seat here and the much coveted stars on the shoulders. That’s why the line “SSB is a battle, fight it bravely~~ Jayendra pratap Singh”. The competition is fierce and this is a special exam which does not need any hard work, only personality improvement and revealing of your very own qualities can lead to success. Yes SSB is all about being yourself and if this is stringently followed, success if there for sure. In the next part of this series we will see what to do and how to start preparation.

Five Tips To Perform Well In Indian Coast Guard FSB

0

With PSB [Preliminary Selection Board] results declared and FSB [Final Selection Board] round the corner I had been receiving many queries related to FSB.  Final selection board is almost similar to the SB conducted for defence forces, so all the applicants are requested not to worry with the naming convention and prepare well by bringing improvement in their personality. There is a minor difference in the GTO rounds only and rest all matches similar to the SSB. Thought of giving few pointers that can help in excelling in this board:

Five Tips To Perform Well In Indian Coast Guard FSB

  1. Be yourself: there is no other way of clearing this exam. If extra brain is applied in improving and polishing things, be ready to return the last day. I have seen aspirants preparing with others material or some already existing suggestions from friends, which try to modify their personality in whatever they do. Never do this as SSB is all about individualistic personality and you have to prove your worth. Preparation starts with self-introspection where you try to realise your OLQ’s and weak areas and try to improve. Don’t wait for the last moment and start early as personality moulding needs time.
  2. Communication skills are also important: No one says that if you can speak flawless English then only you can become officer, but this is the only common language that can be understood by everybody across country and you would love that everyone in your group should understand what you speak. If not fluent, start learning and practicing it.
  3. Don’t try to copy others: Be positive: Positivity should be reflected in whatever you do there. You have to prove that adverse situations can also not make you weak.
  4. Make proper bonding with group members: Though you need to prove you’re worth individually in many rounds, but you will be assessed in groups also for behaviour and team work, so try to move along with everyone. Take everyone together in the group testing.
  5. Brush up technical:  the technical questions might be asked in the PI, so just be ready to face them and its expected from the aspirants to brush up the basics. If guidance is needed prefer one to one guidance as in larger chunks the individual personality is lost somewhere leaving aspirants confuse, worsening the situation.
Tips for Indian Coast Guard FSB
FSB is all about personality assessment so concentrate well on improving the personality and stop believing in myths that exist. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure to help and resolve queries and clear doubts. Prepare well as this is the great opportunity to wear white uniform with golden bands. That uniform is waiting for you, just prepare well without worrying for result. Dedicated improvement in personality as per the need and expectations will lead to result by default.

GD Topic Series: Foreign Investors See India as Profitable Destination

0
make in india GD topic

Is this good news for a developing country like India or a bad news? This can be the latest topic given to the aspirants. The aspirants are expected to present their views for both the motion. Though India is on the developing note and needs high amount of investment from foreign investors but we need to look in to the core reason of why these investors are interested in our country. Are resources not available in their country or do they want to benefit our country? If you will realise the reality it’s shocking as there are ample of resource in developed nations and that could be tapped, but still big organisations look towards India as they believe India is a destination where cheap labour is available.

Also here the unemployment rates are so high that people are ready to work at low rates. The MNC want to utilise that opportunity to make big profits. Though we are inviting investors through various schemes and one is the MAKE IN INDIA campaign recently launched by the new government but still these are just different means to harass our labour class. No doubt government is working towards reduction in unemployment but why do government not look into the various laws that can help in saving the misuse of our hard working labour. There has been always demand of bringing change in the laws that govern and control the labour. Also we need to see that the proposed changes are positive but nothing is happening. Unorganised sector is left out from the purview of law and the statistics are shocking that laws govern only 8-9 per cent of the people who are the part of the organised sector. Don’t you think that we should save our country from this tag of cheap labour?

MAKE IN INDIA

[email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure to help and resolve queries and clear doubts which are more often myths that our future officers face because of wrong elements that share their experience in a wrong manner. Don’t be afraid of it and discuss doubts with experts and only refer faithful resources.

FAQ’s Regarding Lecturette

2
FAQ_s_Regarding_Lecturette

Lecturette is a part of the Group Task series. This is conducted by a Group Testing officer, called as GTO by all of us. Let us see what all are the Frequently asked questions regarding lecturette.

What is Lecturette?

  • It is a test conducted as a part of the Group Testing. In this test a candidate is supposed to speak for a period of three minutes. It is like an extempore speech. The GTO is present at the back of the candidates, or behind the candidate who is speaking. All the other candidates of the group are also present and listening.

Is there any time given for preparation?

  • Yes, there are three minutes given for the preparation. So it means that as soon as the person who is before you starts speaking, you take the topic and start preparing. You have to go a little aside and practice.
    FAQ’s Regarding Lecturette

How is the topic given?

  • There will be card like things placed upside down on a table near GTO. The down side of it will contain the topics. There will be four topics on the card. As soon as your turn comes, you’ll go near the GTO, pick up one card. Now it depends on you that what topic you want to speak on. Decide immediately and start preparing. You have to be very quick.

What kinds of topics are given?

  • The topics vary, from the current affairs things, to social topics or general awareness topic. There can be a very simple topic also, like the book I like the most. Generally each one has a topic of high level difficulty, mild level difficulty, normal level difficulty and a simple topic.

How should I choose the topic?

  • Remember you have to speak for 3 minutes. So you need to choose a topic you are comfortable with. Choose the topic, you know the most about, amongst the topics given.

Do difficult topics carry more mark?

  • There is no such thing. You should choose the topic you can speak for three minutes on. There is no point in taking a difficult thing and then not being able to perform.

What is the basis of marks?

  • The basis of marks is definitely not the level of the difficulty of topic. It depends on your way of delivery, presentation, content and how well you speak. You should be comfortable to speak about the given topic, then only you’ll be good.

What if I don’t know any topic in the list?

  • You simply tell the GTO your problem; he might give you another card or ask you to speak on a topic of your choice. This is very risky, and you should only go the GTO, for a change in topic if you are totally clueless about all the topics in your list. This kind of situation generally never arises.

How should I prepare?

  • The best way to prepare is to read a lot. Get an idea about what kind of topics are asked by referring to them on our website. There when you get your list, choose the topic you know most, think about a beginning and a conclusion and sort out the points in series in which you are planning to speak them.

How should I give the lecturette?

  • Stand still, with your hands behind or in the front. Do not use hand gestures. Have an eye contact with your group mates. Speak in a proper tone and speed. Modulate your voice. Be calm.

How should I react to the sitting GTO?

  • You should wish the GTO once you begin your lecturette. After that just consider him invisible. Look only at your group mates and never at the GTO.

Five Common Mistakes in Group Discussion

0
Five Common Mistakes in Group Discussion

The Group Tasks are an important part of your Service Selection Board interviews. As you know, this Group Task consists of a series of tests. Group Discussion is generally the first test in this series. Group discussion in SSB consists of two rounds. In the first round the GTO gives two topics, out of which the candidates have to discuss amongst themselves and decide which one they want to speak on. This round consists of 20 minutes. The next round also consists of 20 minutes, where the GTO gives a topic of his own choice and asks the candidates to discuss on the same. However GD is a fairly simple test and does not require any such special skill, but still there are certain points which affect your performance. These points can be good speaking skills, patience and knowledge. There are some common mistakes which candidates do in the group discussion.

Five Common Mistakes in Group Discussion

  1. Waiting for the right time: There will never come a perfect time to speak. You’ll have to snatch that time amongst the discussion. So wait for an opportunity where you can enter the discussion. This moment needs to be very appropriate, otherwise it’ll look like you are shouting and dominating. Wait for a chance where the volume of the whole group comes down a bit, then just speak in a firm, not rude voice. Make your voice count, don’t speak along with the group in a herd.
  2. Not listening to others: Some candidates keep on speaking again and again thus not giving a chance to others to speak. While some candidates when start speaking, speak for a really long time. The audience gets bored due to this behavior. Moreover you tend to repeat your points, making a negative impression on the GTO. When you speak more and listen less, the GTO barely gets chance to judge others, so you appear like a very dominant person. When you start speaking speak for maximum of 60 seconds to 90 seconds, and give others a chance to speak.
Five Common Mistakes in Group Discussion
  3.  Trying to over-help: Candidates sometimes try to do charity by pretending to help others in the group. Thus they shout on other person’s behalf, let so and so chest number speak. Remember you are not there for charity, the so and so chest number made it till there without your help, and he/she is capable to do so now also. If you really want to appear like a leader, just listen to other people’s points without interrupting unnecessarily.
  4. Speaking for the sake of speaking: Do not speak just for the sake of speaking. Some candidates speak just because they have to, not because they have a point. If you just repeat other’s points or speak irrelevant things, it’ll definitely go against you. So speak only the relevant things, and points which actually contribute to the discussion.
  5. Not being themselves: Adopting extremes of behavior, like getting up from the chair or shouting on others is definitely not accepted. Also if you speak in a made up accent or do too many gestures then you appear fake. So be yourself, think like you are discussing things with friends.

Outside the Interviewing Officer’s Room

0

Personal interview is one of the three techniques by which the assessors assess you. It carries a major weightage in your selection process. It carries maximum marks and is the shortest test. So it is like that one jackpot question, by which you can win the lottery. Before the interview takes place, you are made to wait for a certain amount of time outside the room. This waiting time is spent generally in Ante room, in case of AFSB or in some other room, or sometimes under a tree in case of SSB. You are informed, most of the times, much before the interview. So before the start of your interview, you wait for your turn along with other candidates (as there are simultaneous interviews going on, as there are many interviewing officers, so those candidates are waiting for their turn).

Things which Happen Outside the Interviewing Officer’s Room

  1. Current Affairs Discussion:  This is the most common discussion and it happens every time, when you are sitting outside the room. Every candidate sitting there says some or the other news. Some are baffled on hearing them as they are new to them and some argue over other facts. Five national, five international and five sports news are the one’s discussed most commonly.
  2. Revision of facts about the services: There is also a very common discussion which is about the facts about the service you have applied for. The candidates seem to recite chants of commands, ranks and recent procurements. Chief of that service is a name repeated many times.
  3. The aftermath of others interviews: You can see a lot of candidates discussing the questions asked in others interviews, or in their previous interviews. They also discuss the officers, who is stricter, who is asking what type of questions and so on.
  4. Racing heartbeat: One thing common is that everybody will be having a racing heart. You’ll be nervous as to how the interview will go.
    Outside the Interviewing Officer’s Room

Things you should do

  1.  Mentally revise: Revise all your achievements, things related to your family, friends etc. Recall all what you have written in your PIQ form. Recall your preparations and your confidence level will instantly boost up.
  2. Don’t discuss: You know what you know, and you don’t know what you don’t know. Learning something at the 11th hour will only lead to nervousness. Even if you are able to gather some information, still you are not having the quality of information to go and present in front of the interviewer. It’ll further confuse you and you’ll get stuck in the interview. A plain simple honest “I don’t know sir”, will save you from all of this trouble.
  3. Don’t hesitate, just meditate: I don’t mean you to pull out your yoga mat and start doing yoga. Collect your thoughts, concentrate on the event which is about to happen. It is very important to relax your mind and feel mental peace. This will help you to concentrate more and beat your nervousness too.
  4. Drink a sip of water: Water will instantly calm you down and you’ll not feel that nervous. Since you have to speak a lot for a continuous duration, so it’s better to keep your throat hydrated. Do not drink too much of water, you know the aftereffects!
  5. Be ready: Being ready is not only mentally, See that your shoe and everything is proper and your hair are proper as well. Get ready in all aspects, the next few minutes will be the deciding factor of your SSB.
Good Luck! Happy Interview!

The elements of a successful interview

1
Interview is the easiest yet the trickiest part of SSB. Easiest because unlike the other tests, which comprise a number of small tests, in the battery, interview is just one test carrying major weightage. So a huge part of your selection depends on this test. It is tricky because you can never say whether your interview was good or bad. People who get thrashed in the interview get selected many times, and those who think their interview went like a cake walk, do not make it. And thus we call it tricky! However there are a few elements which contribute to a successful interview.

The elements of a successful interview

  1.  That smile, will take you miles: When you enter the room of the interviewing officer, you should not look unduly tensed or worried. Once you wish him, wish him with a smile on your face. Trust me, it’ll lighten up the situation. It’s understandable that you are tensed, but if you’ll smile in that stressed environment, it’ll reflect a great deal of positivity. The officer will sense that you are a confident person immediately.
  2. The walk and talk guide: You should enter the room smartly and not slouch while sitting. Shake hands firmly, if offered, and never offer a hand shake from your side. While talking, keep an audible tone, that is your tone should be neither too loud nor too feeble. It should be just like you are talking to a friend sitting a little distance away from you. Never try to speak in a fake accent, that sounds really funny!
    ssb interview
  3. When in SSB, speak the truth: Lie is a strict no for an officer to be. You can lie, if you are sure enough to defend it. But lies are caught over the course of time and also keep in mind that the person sitting in front of you is an expert. Interviewing officers are like the old and experienced mechanics of candidates, they have seen so many candidates and caught so many lies that they can easily catch yours. So make sure you never lie in the interview. This applies to the PIQ form also.
  4. Remember, he is a lazy guy: Every man is lazy by nature, so for every short question give a long answer. For instance, if he asks you where are you from, then give a detailed description of the place you are coming from. The more you speak, lesser questions he’ll ask, so definitely you need to speak your heart out. This way you’ll manage the time for the interview also, he’ll be satisfied to have learnt a lot from you and you’ll control your interview.
  5. Never beat around the bush: If you don’t know an answer for something, simply say no, rather than doing a guess work. You can guess but say that you are not sure. This shows honesty. Similarly never exaggerate anything you say. So keep your emotions under control and keep your mind open while answering, so that you know what you are speaking.
