SSB is in itself a mystery for everyone as people are amazed how one can judge personality simply by making people write stories, sentences or something about their own life or say how can assessors judge personality by making them play small games on the ground. But it’s the reality of that place and that what had been happening from decades. No mistake, no error, this method has only produce many officers that had been serving our country rightly and the exact way it is needed. You are also approaching towards one of the dream job and yes you should be ready to improve your personality.
Many people ask me in query that they were unable to clear screening round, but they performed well. On enquiring I came to know they have been following some readymade material which hindered them from presenting their own personality. Rather, they presented some personality that they are unaware of. This happens with many and people have been doing it unknowingly. They are surrounded by myths and they really don’t know what they are projecting in exam.
Here I provide some information as to what assessors expect in PPDT and how you should go for preparation:
The best and simple way to start preparation for SSB is to analyse yourself through a powerful technique of self-introspection. Until and unless you don’t know yourself how will you portray that in different forms? There are various tools to do so that facilitate introspection and I have also designed many that I administer during my mentorship program. I believe that personality of every individual is different and hence I take it one to one. You can also start introspecting yourself to realise what powers you have. I have written many blogs on this site for self-introspection needs, doings etc. You can refer them for further details.
The result of introspection is your qualities and weak areas. Once you are aware of all this then you know the areas you are supposed to work and the areas that you need to project.
Please remember that you should not project yourself as a perfect human being because then you are not made for defence. Perfect people are elite and belong to some other category.
Also in PPDT story that projects you, individual narration is altogether more important that the GD. More than half battle is won by doing well till here. Rest portray good performance in GD as mentioned by me in my other articles and it’s really easy to get screen in.
Body language in such an exercise is very important and I would deal it in a separate article. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure to help and resolve queries and clear doubts of my future leaders who are getting ready to serve my motherland. Believe me SSB is not an exam where cramming, concepts, and material wins, here representing you in appropriate style provides winning moment. Get ready for that!
There is a popular saying that “Man Is a Social Animal”. We humans are bounded by the norms and traditions of the society in which we live. Every human being must be adept in dealing with various kinds of people in order to lead a purposeful and prosperous life. Though it seems to be an easy task, developing social quotient requires lots of prudence.
Have you ever wondered how certain kinds of people befriend others easily?
How certain people get their work done swiftly?
Why certain people are liked by all?
On the contrary why certain people are execrated by many?
Why certain individuals annoy frequently?
Why no one likes certain individual’s company?
The answer to all of these questions lies in their SOCIAL QUOTEINT. People having high social quotient will have it very easy in their life to deal with others while people having a shallow social quotient will find themselves jeopardized in situations involving human relationships.
In this post we will discuss the ways to develop social quotient. People having high social quotient will more often than not have no difficulty in clearing GTO (Group Tasks) tasks in the SSB interview. Moreover, in the defense services an officer has so many men as his subordinates. Therefore, a high social quotient becomes an inextricable quality for an officer in the armed forces.
BE AN EXTROVERT: An extrovert is a person who is affable, vivacious and congenial. He likes to be surrounded by people. He is outgoing and gets charged up by seeing people around him. Hence, to inculcate this quality one has to be expressive enough with his friends and family. One has to get out of the stigma of having so many people around him. They are people just like you and me and hence, one should slowly but steadily become more expressive and less apprehensive while conversing with others. Remember, being mere talkative will not guarantee you high social quotient; one must speak sense and win the confidence of others.
BE LIVELY IN ADVERSE SITUATIONS: Every individual has to deal with his share of problems in his life. Instead of quibbling about your problems, take them head on. One gentleman has rightly said “, if your problem has a solution, why worry and if your problem doesn’t have a solution, why worry”. So in direct words, becoming depressed at the advent of adversities will make only matters worse. Be positive and try the best you can to quell the problem.
GIVE RESPECT TAKE RESPECT: This is one of the most important factors governing the social quotient of individuals. Every human being is a special creation of god. You should not regard anyone as inferior to you and spurn his view and opinions. You should deal with people the way you want to be dealt by them.
HAVE GOOD WRITTEN AND ORAL EXPRESSION: Everybody has a set of thoughts in his mind. All that matters is the way in which you express those thoughts. Your tongue is a gigantic weapon in your arsenal; it can make or break situations. You should be perspicuous in your opinions and expressions. Your speech must have a resounding impact on the listener. Then only you will be able to convince him to get your work done. At the same time your written expression also matters. You will be regarded with high respect if you are able to express your views with brevity on a piece of paper.
HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOUR: Needless to say; people enjoy the company of individuals who are adept at cracking jokes. Laughing is one of the best exercises which refreshes you mind and body. If you possess the art of making others laugh, you will attract people like a magnet. I am not advising you to become a comedian but you can start seeing the lighter side of any situation and make the matters less complicated.
BE ACCEPTABLE AS A LEADER: When you are in a group, it is imperative that there is an individual who leads the group. To become an apt leader you must take cognizance of the needs of your people and take the best decision possible. You should not show bias towards any individual. Also, you must not bog down during testing times. If you stand by your team members they will also stand by you.
This was it in today’s article about social quotient; I hope this article has helped in getting clarity about the issue discussed. Greetings to all gallant warriors, today we will shed some light upon the various important days and their significance in the Indian defense establishment. The Indian defense forces have given us a boatload of reasons to be proud of them. Also, from the point of view of the personal interview one must be thoroughly apprised about the important moments of our past. So here we go.
Important Days In The Indian Defense Establishment
Indian Army Day :- This day is celebrated on 15th of January every year. On this day in 1949, Field Marshall Kodandera Madappa Cariappa took over as the first commander in chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Butcher, who was the last British General of the Indian Army. This day is very prodigiously celebrated every year to mark the supreme sacrifices of our gallant soldiers. On this day the whole defense fraternity gathers at India gate to pay their obeisance to the soldiers who gave their life for the country. The motto of the Indian Army is “Service Before Self”.
Indian Airforce Day :- Indian Airforce Day is observed every year on 8th October. On this very day in 1932, the Indian Airforce was officially established by the British Raj. Its first flight took place on 01 April 1933. At that time it possessed 6 Officers of the Royal Airforce (RAF) and 16 sepoys. Since then the Indian Airforce has never looked back. It has served unstintingly throughout the years and always brought glory to the nation. The motto of the Indian Airforce is “Touch The Sky With Glory”
Indian Navy Day :- Indian Navy Day is celebrated every year on 4th December. On this day in 1971 (During Indo-Pak War) the Indian Navy launched a tormenting attack at the Pakistani naval base at Karachi. This attack is famously known as operation Trident. Indian navy sank a minesweeper, a destroyer and an ammunition supply ship of the enemy thereby totally crippling the enemy’s naval war fighting capabilities. This day was just the start of an exemplary attack of the Indian Navy on the enemy forces. This resulted in a decisive victory for India which liberated East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) from the Pakistani control. This day is very ebulliently celebrated across the country to commemorate the achievements and sacrifices of our naval personnel. The motto of the Indian Navy is “May the Lord of the Oceans be Auspicious unto us” or “Sham NoVarunah”
Indian Coast Guard Day :- The Indian Coast Guard Day is observed on 1st February every year. On this day in 1977, the interim Indian Coast Guard was set up with 2 ships and 5 patrol boats acquired from the Indian Navy. However, the Indian Coast Guard formally came into existence on 18th August 1978, after the Coast Guard Act was passed in the parliament. Indian Coast Guard was set up to act as a law enforcement agency in India’s territorial waters. From its inception, Indian Coast Guard has worked hand in hand with the Indian Navy and has produced exceptional outcomes in difficult situations. The motto of Indian Coast Guard is “We Protect” or “Vayam Rakshamah”.
Armed Forces Flag Day :- The Armed Forces Flag Day is observed on 7th December every year since 1949. The sole purpose of celebrating this day is to procure funds for the welfare of the Armed Forces Personnel by selling flag stickers. This day, the nation commemorates its soldiers, airmen and sailors who laid down their lives to protect their motherland. The funds collected are used for rehabilitation of battle casualties, welfare of serving personnel and their families and resettlement and welfare of ex servicemen along with their families.
Kargil Vijay Diwas :- This day is celebrated on 26th July every year. On this day in 1999 the Indian Army achieved another milestone by recapturing all the outposts which had been usurped by Pakistani Intruders in the 1999 Indo-Pak war. This day was another example of the unprecedented bravery of the Indian Soldiers who fought relentlessly till their last breath. The 60 day long war resulted in the loss of 527 Indian soldiers. This day the whole country pays their respect to the brave-hearts.
Vijay Diwas :- This day is observed on 16th December every year to reminisce another Indian victory over Pakistan. On this day in 1971, the Pakistani Army chief A.A.K Niazi surrendered along with 93,000 soldiers to the Indian Army and Bangladesh Liberation Army (Mukti Bahini). This was the largest surrender of troops by a nation after the second world war and that too in mere 13 days. Certainly this speaks volumes about the character of which the Indian Army is made of.
This was an amalgamation of various important days which are celebrated across the country to salute and remember the contribution of our armed forces personnel towards our well being. However, there may be many other important days which might have not been included in this list. Those days will be a part of another article in future. Keep visiting ssbcrack for further insights. The Services Selection Board (SSB) interview is an integral part of the selection process for the Indian Armed Forces. It is a five-day long interview process that evaluates the candidates on various parameters, including intelligence, personality, and character. While the SSB interview is not a test of knowledge, it does require candidates to possess certain qualities, such as leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
