How To Become A Group Testing Officer [GTO] at SSB

As many serving officers and aspirants ask us how can they become a psychologist, GTO or an interview officer at services selection board [SSB]. Here we are publishing a short article on how to become a group testing officer also know as GTO at one of the selection centre. Be advised that first you have to reach a certain rank in your respective forces to apply as a GTO, Psychologist or an Interview officer at SSB. Also, one who is not much aware of this lingo, GTO is group testing officer at SSB whose role is to test the abilities of the candidates while they are working in a group. To know more about it click here.

In the past the policy for selection of officers to undergo assessors’ (GTO/IO/TO) courses had been purely voluntary. Whilst this procedure generated the required number of Group Testing Officers GTOs earlier, the requirement to depute increased numbers, post setting up at SSBs, has resulted in shortage of qualified assessors. Furthermore, vacancies allotted to the Army, Navy and Air Force for the Group Testing Officer GTO course are not being fully subscribed to, enforcing severe limitations on the quantity and quality of our intake. To meet the requirements of Group Testing Officer GTOs at Army, Navy and Air Force SSBs, it has now been decided to modify the selection for Group Testing Officer GTO as follows:

  • In addition to volunteers, a few Majors, Sqn Leaders and Lt Cdrs will be selected to undergo a four week GTO course at DIPR Delhi.
How To Become A Group Testing Officer [GTO] at SSB
  • On successful completion of the course, officers will proceed for 8 weeks practical training at one of the Service Selection Boards.
  • On qualifying as GTOs, officers will be deputed at one of the many SSB and AFSB like SSBs (Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Kolkata) for a tenure of two/three years, as and when vacancies arise.
  • Tenure at SSBs will be considered at par with instructional appointments at NDA/NAVAC.
  • Choice of course/appointment as indicated in ACR will be given due weight age.
Hope now you are aware of the process of becoming a GTO, it seems to be tough and full of competition, so be proud if you have performed in front of a GTO, they are there because they are the best for this role. You can share your thoughts in the comment section below.

200+ Photos of 66th Republic Day You Don’t Want To Miss. Republic day is celebrated on 26th January every year, in India to honor the date on which the Constitution of India came into force i.e. 26 January 1950, replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. The constitution was passed by the Constituent Assembly of India on 26 November 1949 but was adopted on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country’s transition toward becoming an independent republic. 26 January was selected for this purpose because it was this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress. It is one of three national holidays in India, other two being Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti.

India sees her people celebrating this day with great pomp and show throughout the country. Ceremonies are held in almost all the schools, colleges of India, and a number of cultural programs are kept. The day is celebrated by organizing speeches and programs which emphasize on the reason why this day is celebrated. Also the programs focus on remembering the martyrs and the history of India’s independence. Generally flags are hosted and sweets are distributed amongst the students and employees. A mesmerizing ceremony is held in New Delhi.
The Republic day parade is held in the capital, from the Raisina Hill near the Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President’s residence), along the Rajpath, past India Gate. Prior to its commencement, the Prime Minister lays a floral wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti, a memorial to martyred soldiers at the India Gate at one end of Rajpath, which is followed by two minutes silence in the memory of them. It is a solemn reminder of the sacrifice of the martyrs who died for the country in the freedom movement and the succeeding wars for the defence of sovereignty of their country. Thereafter he/she reaches the main dais at Rajpath to join other dignitaries, subsequently the President arrives along with the chief guest of the occasion. They are escorted on horseback by the President’s Bodyguard. This is followed by cultural events. The chief guest this year is USA’s President. The Beating Retreat ceremony officially denotes the end of Republic Day festivities. It is conducted on the evening of 29 January, the third day after the Republic Day. It is performed by the bands of the three wings of the military, the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. The venue is Raisina Hills and an adjacent square, Vijay Chowk, flanked by the North and South block of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s Palace) towards the end of Rajpath.

Modi and Obama Joint Press Conference 25 Jan 2015

Answering Questions Modi-Barack Obama’s Joint Press Conference 2015:

PM Modi on US-China Agreement and pressures on India: The agreement concluded by US and China doesn’t put pressure on us. India is an independent country. There is no pressure from any other country. But climate change, global warming in themselves are huge pressure points. Anyone who is concerned about future generations must feel responsible and this pressure should be on every country, government and individual.
PM Modi on his friendship with President Obama, and what they spoke about today: I’m fairly new in this area but relations between countries depends less on full stops and commas and more on the chemistry between them. Barack and I have forged a friendship. There is openness when we talk. This chemistry has brought Barak closer to me but also brought the people of India and America closer. As far as what we spoke about, usey parde main rehne dein. (let that be under wraps.)
President Obama on common values and PM Modi: Part of the reason we are natural partners is because we share values… Prime Minister Modi caused great excitement in the US when he visited last year…. Compared to how much sleep each of us is getting. Turns out Prime Minister Modi is getting even less sleep than me. That is perhaps because he is new. After you have done it for 6 years, you can get an extra hour.
