SSB Interview Repeater Special: Failures Are Also Necessary

0

Life has knocked me down a few times. It showed me things I never wanted to see. I experience sadness and failures. But one thing is for sure. I always get up. Yes the saying goes right, there might be many failures but every time people get up and try in a new way. Failures make new way for human beings and are necessary part of life. Imagine life without failure, all happy happy and go lucky type but then would humans really know what happiness exactly means. Would then the intensity of happiness the same as it is now? I believe no, today happiness seems to be effective because we know what failure means and how to handle it. After long failures there comes a spark which ignites the internal self and makes person more dedicated to achieve what he or she has lost elsewhere. And after so much hard work and patience when the success is achieved then the feeling is altogether different.

ssbinterviewbook

Failures can be avoided by the following:

  • Hardworking has no other substitute so don’t even try to look for some alternative. This is the best way to achieve results
  • Practice makes a man perfect and yes keep on practicing
  • Be yourself else if you would try to change yourself for the sake of anyone or someone special you will lose the essence of your original personality
  • Time management is the key to success. There would be many options in life where you can waste your time and then suffer at the end. Don’t try to do that and constantly manage time as it’s the most precious commodity.
  • Think smartly as the generation change is widely visible and you can see the difference in thought process. Hence sharpen your memory
  • Innovation brings about a change in life , so bring that change for excelling
  • Have faith in yourself and believe nothing is impossible for you. Keep doing the work without bothering for others as the general public will try to bring you down as they cannot move ahead instead.
  • Be calm and have faith in you GOD
  • Though you will be repeater by failing once in SSB, but this does not mean the assessors would expect something more from you. You have to consistently improve yourself through self-introspection and realise that what are the weak areas for improvement. There are various tools that facilitate change and help in doing the introspection.

Qualities Needed To Become Officer In Defence

0

SSB is a place where a person gets opportunity to analyse himself easily. Its spread over a period of five days and all the tests are designed to test few of the qualities of the aspirant. All tests are psychologically designed and they are meant to look for the qualities that an officer should possess to sustain the work conditions that the defence sector would give to individuals. Hence officers are tested on such grounds and these tests have the capability to extract the hidden motives and choose the best among the crowd. It is said that the candidate is judged over fifteen OLQ’s or the officer like qualities and if he or she possess them then only he could be recommended. The qualities are widely spread in different domains of human personality and cover various aspects like Social adaptability, effectiveness, how one does planning and how he is at organising things.

The examination is strict and no exception is there for missing qualities. The presence of such qualities is noted through three types of exams which aim at judging the coordination between heart, mind and body. Three different rounds are made to check all possible ways for presence of these qualities. The aspirant would face PI, Psychology and GTO rounds where different assessors would assess the candidate for appropriateness and fit in service. Different assessors are kept so that the element of favouring or luck factor is minimised as those who judge are also humans but trained specially to assess. The list of fifteen expected qualities is as follows:

  • Effective intelligence
  • Sense of responsibility
  • Organising ability
  • Self- confidence
  • Liveliness
  • Power of expression
  • Social adaptability
  • Courage
  • Speed of decision
  • Cooperation
  • Initiative
  •  Reasoning ability
  • Ability to influence the group
  • Determination
  • Stamina
Qualities Needed To Become Officer In Defence
The essence of each quality should be there and it would be tested by officers, so it is suggested to the aspirants that they should go well prepared knowing what they have and what they can inculcate through changes in their personality. Missing elements can surely be build up in some time if during the preparation the aspirants come to know what is really missing from their personality. Since we know what is being looked at we should be smart enough to get our personalities tested by experts who can guide individually and help reach a level where development could be made.
You are the best person to analyse what you actually are and what qualities you possess, you should know what the technicalities that are being looked are and how your responses should fulfil them. If you feel the need of individualised assessment and mocks which can be taken from your home itself through my mentoring program or you have a query bothering your mind which hinders your preparation drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure to help and resolve queries.

How To Prepare Well For Indian Coastguard PSB?

coast-guard-interview

Indian coastguard is emerging as the fourth wing of our defence services. Though it’s a extended force, but still it’s the first Para military force which has a formalised SSB procedure for selection similar to our defence forces. I would say they have modernised that process and are bit advanced. This is the time when they give calls for various entries for their officer cadre selection. Aspirants have received calls for the preliminary selection round which is a sort of first day for the aspirants and those who clear it will move ahead for the FSB. So it’s really very important to clear it and reach the final stage. The aspirants who will clear it will directly get a call for the second day process and please remember that all the process and assessment is almost similar to SSB with few mild changes.

Day one of PSB comprises of Aptitude test and the questions would be flashed on computer screen and you need to attempt them in a fixed time. This is a difference as compared to our SSB centres. Then the candidates move ahead for the PPDT round which is almost similar to the rounds held at SSB. Here a hazy picture would be flashed and aspirants are expected to write the story. Then comes the individual narration and a GD in a group of 15-20 people. The following points should be kept in mind while preparing:

  • The call letter has few details related to timing, documents etc. Please ensure that are followed strictly else you might be coming back without giving the exam. The authorities are really very strict with documentation. Please see that all certificates, character certificates, etc. are carried in original and at least two set of photo copies as mentioned in the call letter.
    coast-guard-interview
  • Once the document process is over, you will be taken to the hall where aptitude will be conducted. Be smart and diligent in taking decision and precise in marking them in the answer sheet. Start practicing such questions from now onwards.
  • PPDT is really very important and will decide the course of selection. So act smart and start self-introspection of personality from now on. Don’t wait for the last moment expecting for some miracle to happen which will change your personality suddenly. Once you know what you have and what now, start working on the areas that need immediate concern. Try to relate qualities in you in whatever you do at PSB. Present yourself originally.
Body language in such an exercise is very important and I would deal it in a separate article. How to do self-introspection can be read in my previous article on the blog. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for OLQ’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected] or add me on Fb and drop in a message. Dreams need to be converted into reality and for that hard work is needed, so start it now!

Participation and Contribution In the SSB

Participation and Contribution In the SSB

It is often said that in GTO series, you must contribute to the group solution. We often fail to construe the exact difference between participating and contributing. While these terms appear to be alike, there is a thin line of difference between the two.
In GD, you keep on blabbering without noticing its effect on the group members. You feel like your job is done and you have played your part. This is called participation. The GTO will come to know who is wholeheartedly working towards the group and who is not. On the contrary, you speak a few quality words while getting the full attention of the group. You respect the views of others and let everyone opine their ideas without any obstruction. This will be termed as contribution.

In the same vein, during the Group Planning Exercise it is not important to stick to your own solution. In 90% of the cases there is no consensus in the group and there you lose your points. An ideal GPE is such where the group members pick out the best ideas from the individuals, mix it up to form the group solution. As long as you do your bit in the group, it is enough. You have the chance to prove your mettle in other tasks and therefore it is your contribution in the group what matters.
Similarly, in the Progressive Group Task (PGT) and Half Group Task (HGT) carrying the load, plank, balli or rope is not important. You must be able to get the group out of the obstacle with your ideas. You have to work in the group with unabridged commitment. Also, in the Group Obstacle Race (GOR) people fight among themselves in order to get a chance to help others in crossing the obstacles. Then they have a look at GTO to check whether he is noticing their effort or not. It is completely fatuous to help the group members just for the heck of it. You have to put your heart and soul in the task and then only it will be termed as ‘contribution’.

ssb interview

To sum it up I would say that many a times the whole group gets washed out. You feel cheated and wretched. Similarly there are instances when the whole group gets recommended. The moral of the story is that you get unmasked in front of the assessors how much ever you try to pretend. You are required to put your heart into the task, without bothering about getting noticed. Your contribution matters, your mere presence holds no water.
I hope that you have got the gist of the article. Any doubts and comments are welcome on [email protected]. Keep visiting SSBCrack. JAI HIND

Revealing Secret About The Myths Of BAD COMMUNICATION at SSB

0

Revealing Secret About The Myths Of BAD COMMUNICATION at SSB
“I am not good in communication!” “I am very bad in public speaking and I cannot express myself!” “Because of bad communication skills I feel low in confidence at SSB!” You might have heard such types of sentences from the aspirants who are otherwise very determined to join the forces. I have been receiving many queries now a day on the same and I thought it’s better to communicate on the common channel. Please understand that SSB is not a place where your flashy usage of big words is checked or how you produce your thoughts. It’s a place where things are psychologically judged and if that can be conveyed in simple language then no one can stop you from getting selected. Preference should be given only to personality development and improvement and not communication.

Now this does not mean that I should be bad at it and should not try to improve if I have claimed this point. Try to understand the dynamics that plays at SSB and what are the expectations of the forces. If you prioritise your work area and work accordingly, everyone has the potential to clear it. That’s not really an exam that needs preparation from books. I have seen people using books that actually don’t help in any sense and help them in adopting different personality which is not theirs actually. Books might guide you in a general sense of how things appear there and what all could be done, but never try to adapt the same methodology as it might reflect a confused personality there. Now let’s come to the English speaking part. See, English is used at SSB just to provide a platform for common understanding to all the aspirants there as they are from different parts of the country and this is the only language that’s common to all of us. That’s it. This is the simple reason of using this language, nothing else.
communication in ssb interview

“Working hard for something we don’t know is called stress, while working hard for something known is passion” So knowing why this language is being used give it only that much advantage. Pursue your passion for defence and never lose confidence because you are weak in English. Yes it can be improved with practice, so do it but never feel defeated. Language is just a tool of communication and nothing else. Don’t give it more advantage and work thoroughly on your personality. If you are weak in that , no one will accept you there. So start in right direction.

How To Perform Well In Screening Round of SSB?

0
PPDT and Screening Test

SSB is a five day process but only for some. Everyone who goes there after the shortlist is not lucky enough to encounter the pride for five days. There is a screening process where majority of elimination takes place and aspirants are sent back on the very first day itself. So I would request aspirants to gear up and prepare well for the first day so that they can also see the full five day stint at the battlefield namely SSB, where you need to revisit your life and the journey would be facilitated along with the assessors. Also the people who get the opportunity to spend five days are lucky as they area changed personality once they move out of that place and that change is permanent and brings a change in thought process that can affect whole of the life. I have personally seen different variety of people changing and speaking in different form once they come back.

How To Perform Well In Screening Round of SSB

So it’s of utmost importance that you should be gear up for performing better on the first day so as to save yourself from elimination. The following tips might help and would facilitate movement in next rounds if sincerely followed:
  • Don’t take aptitude lightly and keep regular practice of it. I know it’s easy, but why to take risk. I have seen people preparing for big exams like CAT and other such high level exams getting rejected on the very first day just because of over confidence. So maintain you pace in this area.
  • Next thing to keep in mind is that you should spend a lot of time in self-introspection so as to build up appropriate psychology as needed in the SSB. Don’t start in the last moment and then nothing could be achieved. So start early and build it as PPDT is judged that way only.
  • Your stories written in PPDT round are the first exposure to officers which proves whether you have it in you or not. So the story should be a perfect match and replica of your personality and even the slight mismatch would lead to rejection at this stage or later in psychology.
  • Next is individual narration which shows how you are and what you have. It should be practiced well and the narration in front of officers should be flawless.
  • Then is the GD, where you need to come to consensus and should prove your behaviour in a team. How to do well in GD has been covered in other topics and articles written by me
    PPDT and Screening Test
Body language in such an exercise is very important and I would deal it in a separate article. Also remember that if story and individual narration is proper half the battle is won in this round. Learn and practice well. Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for olq’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected]or add me on Fb and drop in a message. It would be a pleasure to help the future officers that are getting ready to safeguard my motherland.

Want To Be An Officer In Armed Forces? BE A LEADER FIRST

0

Getting into the Armed Forces is a dream comes true for all the defence aspirants. But when I m talking of DREAM I am concerned about the measurable dream, or you can say it should be quantifiable. There should be a clear ending that can be measured by you. As for example: Suppose you have a friend who has recently joined the forces after a year of rigorous training. You got motivated and dreaming of becoming an officer like him. Till this point you are blank enough and only thinking of a hazy picture of being an officer.

So, what point I am trying to make here is, after getting motivated first you should draw a clear picture and should set a ROAD MAP to reach that point. Then only you are supposed to DREAM (not before that).
Now I am trying to show to the real ROAD MAP of becoming an officer (here I am not going to describe the stages to cross for becoming an officer, which you can get in plenty in the SSBCrack.com). But I am going to set the mood and lay down the process of becoming an officer in just 5 steps (nothing more needed).

  1. So, first of all you have to be a LEADER:- Confused?? No worries. I am going to describe it. Here I am NOT talking about leadership to control or motivate others. Be the leader of your own Mind so that you and you only can take ownership to control it, and no other thoughts. Because now you are ready to take off (start upfront), keep one thing in mind you are now the pilot of your aircraft (MIND) which will fly to your DREAMLAND (you are an Officer).
  2. Make your MAP:- You should not create a MAP according to which you should proceed. Create a worksheet. Set calendar alerts, phone alerts, put post-its up, and make a big white board to do list for the month. Schedule your steps into your life.
Want To Be An Officer In Armed Forces? BE A LEADER FIRST
  3. Go through the websites of the Armed Forces:- Visit the websites daily, if not every alternate day to check for new updates of upcoming advertisements related to vacancies. Also, be in continuous touch with the newspapers, articles of repute and the daily news as to know what’s happening day in and day out globally.
  4. Keep yourself focused:- There will be many distractions all around, but don’t get demotivated anytime. Remember one thing a FOCUSED mind never get distracted of smaller things that goes on every day and night. Get the books related to the exams and the SSB and keep in touch with those as they are your friends from now onwards. Frame your mind and REVISE. PRACTICE, REVISE as much as you can.
  5. Keep yourself healthy and fit:- Remember one thing a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Practice yoga and schedule sometime in the morning to go out and exercise. This will surely help you during the SSB.

Keep following these steps everyday and I am sure you will get to visit your DREAMLAND in the days to come. Wishing all of you the very best of success.
REMEMBER:- YOU AND ONLY YOU ARE ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING NOW, NO ONE ELSE.
