Clearing Confusion Related to AFCAT Exam

0
afcat exam

“Go as far as you can see, when you will get there, you will be able to see farther~~ J.P.Morgan”There is no limit that defines your performance. You have to be a hard worker, just to concentrate on your goal. In fact I would suggest having ARJUN (FOCUS only on goal and don’t see anything else) as your role model now as you should learn from our mythological characters and see the good that is around you.  Positivity is the first thing that you should learn if you desire to move towards this direction and want to serve our motherland. You have to see what best could be done in the limited time and with limited options.

Now days I have seen aspirants filling different forms of defence entries, whether it’s AFCAT or TGC. There have been mails full of similar queries, so I thought lets address them here at this platform. There might be certain problems with certain profiles of aspirants as they were not able to fill form, there were technical glitches. Just take a snapshot and mail the same to the email id provided on the website or call on helpline number for help. This is just the basic starting. Get out of it as soon as possible as you still have a lot to do. Once the form is submitted properly forget it and start seeing the syllabus of what things are there that you need to undergo. Keep the following points in mind and it might help in getting a SSB call:

  • Start making a time table as you are left with about two month of time to complete the syllabus, rest time should be utilised for revision and other activities. So divide the available time as per your schedule and convenience to cover all the topics for aptitude. Don’t leave any part unturned.
  • Also pay special emphasis on Technical part as technical entry people need to give the EKT exam along with AFCAT.
  • Once these things are prepared work regularly and every day following the schedules strictly. No problem or daily routine should disturb you from doing this. Keep all the distractions and other things far from you for some time. B serious in preparations.
  • Specially devise time for general awareness as few questions will definitely be from this part and cannot be left. GK is really helpful for people to clear the cut-off’s.
  • Once AFCAT gets over you will be immediately called for SSB in a period of about a month or so never wait for the end moment. SSB is all about personality evaluation, so never wait for the call letter. Just pay some time to introspect yourself also as this might help in preparation beforehand and will help you keep ahead of others and in time you will definitely succeed.
Still If you have any confusion or feel to take individual assessment of personality for OLQ’s or prepare from your place itself through one to one interaction through my mentoring / counselling program drop me a mail at [email protected]or add me on Fb and drop in a message. Work hard for the written exam as it’s not really tough but just a basic test of intelligence and basics of a person so don’t be afraid and just start working on it. My best wishes are there with you and you will definitely succeed. It would be a pleasure to help and resolve queries and clear doubts which are more often myths that are present in the mind and that can severely degrade the performance.

How To Succeed In SSB

How To Succeed In SSB

SSB is not an interview of an hour or two; it is a long stretched process of six days. Your personality is monitored for suitability from every aspect. Since the SSB interview is long process, so the preparation for it must be for a long time as well. There is no shortcut to success in SSB. If you want to succeed you need to prepare for a long period of time rigorously. SSB demands a continuous preparation in a planned way. Success is not a very difficult thing in SSB, in fact it is easy, but it is tricky. All you need to do for SSB is to be genuine, many people say this, but very few really understand. Being genuine is being honest, but do you know what honesty in terms of SSB is?

I would say there can be no other interview as easy as SSB if you really understand what SSB is. Every other job interview asks you to change a lot of things in your personality. They demand you to gain and acquire extra knowledge, put in a lot of extra effort in order to get success.

SSB is a different story. It never asks you to acquire skills, it simply asks you to enhance what you already have. You need to put in effort, but not to gain extra knowledge but to polish whatever knowledge you have got, whatever qualities you have got. You just have to know where and how to present your qualities, the Officer Like Qualities that they need.

How To Succeed In SSB

You would have heard that though the food might be very tasty, but unless you present it properly, nobody will be tempted towards eating it. Now consider yourself at SSB, you might be very good, with mind blowing qualities, but if you do not present those qualities at the right time, nobody will know that you have them at the first place. So act wisely. There are times you need to show your leadership qualities and you should not miss those moments, go ahead work and lead by example.
Honesty in SSB is nothing but presenting what you have at the right time. You do not need to fake anything. And yes remember that not telling something is not cheating. You can still be honest if you are not telling something about yourself, which you think will diminish your chances. It is perfectly all right, till you make sure you do not get caught. That is why you need to practice for a long time, so that you have an answer for everything, so that you make no mistakes. You need to give in some time to understand yourself, to understand how, when and where you have to do what and thus succeed. SSB is not rocket science, do not put in your head to understand how the system works, just see that what your part is, and perform well in that zone. All the best!

What Is Expected In SSB Personal Interview?

2
ssb-interview

Personal Interview in SSB has got the most weightage in the selection procedure. The Interviewing Officer who takes this interview is generally a high-rank officer (most of the time board president). There are different norms in different boards as to who takes the interview of whom. While in some boards president takes the interview of only fresher, yet in other he takes the interview of only repeaters, while in yet other boards there is no such obligation. Personal Interview is the shortest duration test that happens in SSB. While Psychological test lasts for two-two and a half hours, Group Testing may last for eight to ten hours. The Personal Interview lasts somewhere between 20 minutes to 90 minutes, for the maximum. So it is like you can ensure your chances in this short duration and get through the SSB Interview. Let us see what all is expected in a personal interview in SSB:

  • Reasonable Confidence: You are there to get into the forces, where the people are full of beaming confidence. If you are not confident enough you can never be good leader. You must portray confidence from the way you talk, the way you sit and the way you walk. You should talk without hesitating while answering something, walk smartly and sit upright. If you are slouchy in your appearance then you look like an under confident chap. There is a thin line between confidence and over confidence, while the former is necessary, the latter may screw up all your chances of success.
  • Basic Awareness: You are expected to be a candidate who has knowledge about their surroundings. You must be aware in general about what all is happening around you, in current affairs. You should know in depth about the people whom you are close to in life. Having a basic awareness shows that you are somebody who keeps his/her eyes and ear open.
  • Self Awareness: Nobody can be truly intelligent until they have knowledge about themselves. It is very difficult to introspect your own personality and find out what all areas you are good in and in what all areas you lack. You can never become a complete person until you know yourself. So take time to determine your qualities. It is easy to criticize and correct somebody else, but takes courage to criticize and correct oneself.
  • Honesty: This is the most important thing which is expected from a candidate, not only in Personal Interview, but in all tasks. You must be the same person as you portray in the PIQ. If you have not done something or you fill in wrong information in the PIQ, there are huge chances of you getting caught! So beware, if you lose this quality once, you can never regain it back.
  • PIQ: You should fill the PIQ genuinely; never brag about anything in it. Write only the correct information as most likely your interview will be based largely on PIQ.
  • Subject Knowledge: If you are applying for technical entry then it is a must to know the basic principles. Otherwise also, you should be able to answer simple question asked, based on the qualifying exam through which you are getting into the forces.

Not Recommended? Here Is What To Do After That

2

Rejections hurt, especially when it from something you dream about, work hard for, they hurt even more when it is the nth time that you are getting rejected. Every candidate who suffers rejection in SSB, can very well relate to the sadness which comes after it. The candidates who do not get a chance to hear their chest numbers in those lucky to be officer list, know that the next few days are going to be difficult. But it is not the end of the world, though it is end of one SSB and to you both seem like same thing at that time. Here’s is to what should follow after getting rejected from SSB:

  • There is no point cribbing about the selection system, it is not going to change, so you need to stop doing that first. Stop being critical about the selection system.
  • Yes that candidate who got selected did not deserve it, but still got through, and see here you are, having all the qualities oozing out still not recommended. But you can’t do anything about it, again stop comparing and looking critically as to who got selected.
  • No board is a rejection board. They want you as much as you want that job. Keep the myths away. Many people will tell you many things, need not believe everything.
  • Repeaters have a hard chance, no, absolutely not. If you have chances ahead it is never the end, you can try with better preparation every time again.
  • The earlier you stop thinking about your previous SSB, the better. Old bad things need to go for new good things to come, but they should go only after leaving the lesson. So draw the lesson out of your attempt.
    ssb interview recommended
  • See the positives, ignore the negatives. See the good things you learnt after going to SSB (for me it was learning to play pool), which you would have not learned otherwise, it’ll fill you with good thoughts.
  • Be happy for the candidates who got selected, learn positive things from them, congratulate them from heart. If you learn to be happy for others you reach an super level of awesomeness!
  • Sit down, analyze from day one, to the last day, write down the questions asked, your answers, it’ll help you later to understand what went wrong. Since everything is fresh you can remember now, but will be difficult later.
  • Note down all the important dates, for all the forms you need to apply for. Keep on applying for the new entries whichever comes up next. Never lose hope. Never give up, the quality of a true officer.
  • Start preparing for your next SSB. Seek for an expert help, if you feel it is needed. Be very wise before choosing any coaching. So do all the groundwork needed for preparation.
  • Falling down is easy, getting up is not. You need to really get up and put in all your efforts so that you can achieve your dream goal.

Is Coaching a Must for SSB Interview?

0

One of the biggest doubts, which candidates have, regarding Service Selection Board Interview is the doubt related to SSB Coachings. Many have a doubt whether to join it or not, yet others have a doubt that which one to join. Some people say that joining a coaching is a must, while some others say that it doesn’t help at all. You see so many candidates around you qualifying, even without joining any coaching, and you also see the candidates who joined coaching, failing. So definitely a doubt would arise in your mind, that you should join a coaching or not? Through this article, we aim at clearing that doubt.

What is SSB Coaching?

SSB coachings are coaching’s where a candidate is made to undergo those six days at SSB in a detailed way. The candidate is made to understand each test, made to understand what is asked, and what should be the answer. The candidate is made to practice the mock tests for each test, told about what SSB is in general and what all qualities are expected.

Who Runs it?

SSB coaching’s generally are run by former GTO’s, Interviewing Officers, or Psychologists, basically members of the board who have experience in this area. Some coaches have dedicated people for each test, while others are run by a single person. Now there are many coaching’s in the market where fake people are the teachers, who have practically no experience in this area. Be aware of them.

What is the Success Ratio?

This is a very debatable topic. Many coaching claims that they have a high success ratio, they guarantee success etc., but nothing can be surely said. You need to find out yourself which coaching is good. To join it or to not join it! Any coaching can only guide you, nobody can spoon-feed you the officer-like qualities or the way you should speak. If you feel that you have no proper guidance then you must join a coaching. They’ll give you an insight on what are your good qualities and how to strengthen them, they’ll also help you in understanding your weaknesses and help you overcome them. You’ll get a chance to give mock tests and one big advantage will be that you’ll get a group of fellow aspirants where you can do GD’s and other Group Tests. Although there too the real work needs to be done by you. You are responsible for actually practicing things. So if you are very lazy and lack in following a set pattern for preparation you must join a coaching. However the guarantee for success is nowhere. Everything depends on how much you and to put yourself into preparations. Do not be a follower and follow what other candidates tell you. Open your eyes, your mind, check things, decide for yourself.

After the Covid-19 pandemic, more candidates are preferring to prepare from home through online courses. There are multiple benefits of joining the online coaching for defence exams like CDS, NDA, AFCAT, Territorial Army, MNS, INET, ACC, and more. Book Review: “Boots Belts Berets”: An Insider into NDA

“Boots Belts Berets” Book Review

Boots Belts Berets is a novel written by Tanushree Podder. This novel is a like a few pages tour into the life of NDA. Though different people have different views on the book, I found it to be simply good. Anybody who is interested in joining this prestigious institution would love to read this. The alumni might be reluctant to read it as they have already experienced the real stuff there. This book offers a great account of the life and style in NDA. The book starts with a candidate reporting to the reception at Pune Railway Station. This book holds the account of the first day at NDA to the POP. It’s commendable ,the way the author has described each and everything that take place there. The feelings of the candidates as a first termer, the growing confidence as a second termer and the feel of being a boss in the academy towards reaching the sixth term has been shown wisely.

People who never get a chance to live the life a candidate in NDA, would certainly love reading this book, as they can feel that they are the protagonist of the book. The book involves the reader in such a way that the reader will feel that he is somewhere in the academy, he can feel the everything that goes inside  the mind of Pessi, Bertie, Randy and Maach (the four central characters in the story). NDA is not just six terms of putti parades, ragda or punishments, it’s about living a life after which you fear nothing and your body can endure anything.

Book Review: “Boots Belts Berets”

The four characters find the training regime hard in the first term, but get used to with time. Then it becomes a part of their life and they miss it even when at home. The days of separations from family, severe restrictions on all possible things, the enthusiasm with which they count DLTGH(Days Left To Go Home), make the readers wonder what it would really be to live the life of an NDA cadet. However they realize at the end that no matter how many punishments they have been through, how many restrictions they have been through, they’ll miss the academy and every part of it. They realize that the will to serve the country can never be beaten by anything, in fact punishments only make you strong. No amount of punishment and tough training can put down their spirits because the love for uniform, the love for that badge and the love for the passing out parade will always boost their energies up. They develop a bond for life, united by their common experiences. This quote in the book best describes their feeling at the time of POP “Its one of the nature’s ironies, when you can’t get away, you want to; and when they let you go, you just don’t want to anymore”
After reading the book the reader will feel that NDA is all about pushing your limits, until they become norm. There are very few books that describe the academy life, so this book is a must read if you want to peep into the life of a NDA Cadet. Happy Reading!
