At a time when India and China are locked in a protracted border dispute, the Indian Air Force has for the first time assigned two female combat pilots to its frontline Chinook helicopter units that are crucially supporting the army’s deployments close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC), including transporting light howitzers, in the northern and eastern sectors.
Before being transferred to CH-47F Chinook units headquartered in Chandigarh and Mohanbari in Assam, respectively, Squadron Leaders Parul Bhardwaj and Swati Rathore were flying the Russian-made Mi-17V5 helicopters.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today released wild Cheetahs – which had become extinct from India – in Kuno National Park. Cheetahs – brought from Namibia – are being introduced in India under Project Cheetah, which is world’s first inter-continental large wild carnivore translocation project. Out of the eight Cheetahs there are five female and three male Cheetahs.
The Prime Minister released Cheetahs at two release points in Kuno National Park. The Prime Minister also interacted with Cheetah Mitras, Cheetah Rehabilitation Management Group and students at the venue. The Prime Minister addressed the Nation on this historic occasion.

The release of wild Cheetahs by the Prime Minister in Kuno National Park is part of his efforts to revitalise and diversify India’s wildlife and its habitat. The cheetah was declared extinct from India in 1952. The Cheetahs that would be released are from Namibia and have been brought under an MoU signed earlier this year. The introduction of Cheetah in India is being done under Project Cheetah, the world’s first inter-continental large wild carnivore translocation project.
Cheetahs will help restore open forest and grassland ecosystems in India. This will help conserve biodiversity and enhance the ecosystem services like water security, carbon sequestration and soil moisture conservation, benefiting society at large. This effort, in line with the Prime Minister’s commitment to environmental protection and wildlife conservation, will also lead to enhanced livelihood opportunities for the local community through eco-development and ecotourism activities.
The historic reintroduction of Cheetahs in India is part of a long series of measures for ensuring sustainability and environment protection in the last eight years which has resulted in significant achievements in the area of environment protection and sustainability. . The coverage of Protected Areas which was 4.90% of the country’s geographical area in 2014 has now increased to 5.03%. This includes an increase in Protected Areas in the country from 740 with an area of 1,61,081.62 sq.kms. in 2014 to present 981 with an area of 1,71,921 sq.kms.
Forest and tree cover has increased by 16,000 square kms in the last four years. India is among few countries in the world where forest cover is consistently increasing
There has also been an increase in the number of community reserves. From just 43 in 2014 their numbers are more than 100 in 2019.
India is home to 52 Tiger Reserves covering approximately 75,000 Sq Km area in 18 States with approximately 75% population of the wild tiger at global level. India achieved the goal of doubling the tiger numbers in 2018 itself, four years in advance from the targeted year 2022. The Tiger Population in India has increased from 2,226 in 2014 to 2,967 in 2018.
The budgetary allocation for tiger conservation has increased from Rs 185 crore in 2014 to Rs 300 crore in 2022.
The population of Asiatic Lions has shown a steady increase with a population of 674 individuals with an increase rate of 28.87 per cent (one of the highest growth rates so far) from the 523 lions in 2015.
India now (2020) has 12,852 leopards as compared to the previous estimate of 7910 conducted in 2014. More than 60% increase in population has been recorded.

AFCAT 1 2023 Online Test: The AFCAT online test will be given all over India at different test centres by the Indian air force. Around February 2023, the AFCAT 1 2023 online test will be given.

The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admit Card three weeks before the date of the examination. The e-Admit Card will be sent to the registered email IDs and will also be available at the website www.careerindianairforce.cdac.in for all candidates who successfully submitted their online application. No Admit Card will be sent by post. To download the e-Admit Card, a candidate should have his/her Username and Password. The candidate will be solely responsible for downloading his/ her e-Admit Card.
If the candidate does not receive his/her admit card in their registered email id or is not able to download the same from the mentioned website or if there is any error/discrepancy/anomaly in the e-admit card, he/she must inquire from AFCAT Query Cell at C-DAC, Pune immediately. (Phone Nos. 020-25503105 or 020-25503106). E-Mail queries may be addressed to [email protected] . No candidate will be allowed to appear in the examination unless he/ she holds a downloaded e-Admit Card for the examination.

The AFCAT 1 2023 results will be out in the month of March 2023. Registration for the AFSB interview dates will open for the selection of AFSB venues & dates on the first come first basis rest of the candidates who did select the system will automatically allocate randomly. Successful candidates can choose the appropriate AFSB date and location from the official website

AFCAT 1 2023 Salary Structure
AFCAT Salary:
1. Cadets in the final year of training will be given a stipend of Rs. 56,100.
2. After successful completion of training, level 10 in the Pay Matrix of the seventh Central Pay Commission will be allotted to the young Air Officers [56100-1,10,700]
3. Military Service Pay- 15,500 will also be included.
Additional Allowances
1. Flying Branch: Rs 11250 per month.
2. Technical Branch Officers: Rs 2500 per month.
In Addition to these officers are also entitled to other allowances such as TA, DA, Children Education Allowance, Ration Money Allowance etc.
AFCAT Roles:
The roles and responsibilities are different for all three posts. Candidates who are aiming for a specific post under IAF should know the job profile. The job profile of all three branches is discussed in detail below.
AFCAT Flying Branch Job Profile
Operate and look after fighter planes with combat.
Transportation of material and ammunition tasks
Air support and supplies.
Helicopters are in service for casual and emergencies.
AFCAT Ground Duty Technical Job Profile
Maintenance of all technical tools and equipment of aircraft.
Responsibility for managing the technicians who are already qualified.
Checking technicians are being provided with the required equipment and tools for the job consisting of RADAR, Aircraft, etc.
Must perform aeronautical engineering, weapons, communication systems, avionics, etc.
Handling of the aircraft service, technical processes, and management

English
Syllabus: English. Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion/ Filling in of correct word, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary, Idioms and Phrases. This portion includes sometimes a good difficulty level and only those who have followed the exam pattern, solved previous year questions and other appropriate study material will be able to score full marks in this section. This part includes a good portion of direct answers that should be on the tip of your finger.
Read all the rules of nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. for spotting errors and keep practising them. One must know that the weightage for vocabulary and idioms and phrases is very high. Start learning words, idioms, and phrases daily and keep revising them. It will hardly take 15 minutes every day. With this, you can really score well in the English section. Reasoning

General Awareness
Syllabus: History, Geography, Civics, Politics, Current Affairs, Environment, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Sports, etc. General awareness or general knowledge part is basically divided into two parts and they are static and dynamic. Static does not change with time, this includes subjects like history, geography, civics, politics, basic science, art, culture, etc., As this is a static portion, you will have to make the notes just once which will be useful for upcoming attempts too. Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) for AFCAT 1 2023 Exam
For AFCAT entry, IAF shall prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the Online AFCAT as fixed by the IAF at their discretion. Candidates who are declared successful in the Online AFCAT will be called to one of the Air Force Selection Boards. Candidates who have applied for NCC Special Entry will be directly called for AFSB testing at one of the AFSB centers.
The AFSB centres are at Dehradun (1 AFSB), Mysuru (2AFSB), Gandhinagar (3 AFSB), Varanasi (4 AFSB), and Guwahati (5 AFSB).
Candidates who opt for the flying branches can only opt for Dehradun, Mysore, and Varanasi.
Candidates who have qualified in the written exam are required to choose AFSB date and venue by themselves on the website https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in or https://afcat.cdac.in in order to generate a call-up letter for an AFSB interview
Indian Army has published the SSC Tech 59 men merit list and SSCW Tech 30 women merit list will be updated soon. Indian army has published the list of recommended candidates who have cleared the SSB interview for SSC 59 Men technical entry.
SSC Tech is a special entry for engineering graduates that allows them to apply for the SSB interview directly without any written exam. All the candidates on the merit list will get the joining instructions as per the order in the merit list. The course was scheduled to start at OTA Chennai in Oct 2022. There are 73 male candidates who have cleared the SSB interview of SSC 59 technical entry, most of the branches are vacant this time and no one got recommended in those branches. Candidates who have not submitted copies of all semester marksheets, Degree/Provisional degree certificate and other requisite documents as mentioned in course notification are required to submit immediately a self-attested scanned copy of the same on ‘Feedback/ Query’ option on our website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in or by Fax (No 011 – 2619-6205).
Joining Letters (JL) will be issued as per MERIT subject to Vacancy, Medical fitness, submission of requisite documents and meeting all eligibility criteria as per course notification.
