An IAF officer told newsonair.com, “The new IAF uniform will have different colours and shades that are better for the air force’s work environment.”

This will make the staff more comfortable and help them do their jobs better. The ergonomic fitting is a feature that helps both men and women on ground duty do their jobs as well as they can.

A weapon systems officer (“WSO”, pronounced “wizzo”) is an air flight officer directly involved in all air operations and weapon systems of an aircraft.
As a WSOp (ISR) operator, you’ll manipulate complicated sensor suites and communications equipment to gather tactical and strategic intelligence for warfighters and military commanders. Land (Lnd), Electronic Warfare (EW), and Acoustic (Aco) ISR responsibilities are used across the whole range of RAF ISTAR platforms to safeguard the country from marine threats, control the air, and many other missions. Linguists (Lg) translate and analyse foreign radio broadcasts, defending India and her allies by supplying real-time intelligence to the battlespace.

On this historic occasion, it is my privilege to announce that the Government has approved the creation of a Weapon System Branch for Officers in the IAF. This is the first time since independence that a new operational branch is being created. This will essentially be for manning of four specialised streams of Surface to Surface missiles, Surface to Air Missiles, Remotely Piloted Aircraft and Weapon System Operators in twin and multi crew aircraft. Creation of this branch would result in savings of over Rs 3400 Crores due to reduced expenditure on flying training.
How to Join Indian Air Force Weapon Systems WS Branch?
Today, an Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed near the Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh. There were two pilots in the doomed helicopter, but only one of them made it out alive.
Both pilots were taken to the nearest military hospital to get care. One of the pilots died from his injuries, but the other pilot is getting care right now.
“We regret to inform you that one of the pilots, Lt Col Saurabh Yadav, who was seriously hurt, died while being treated.” The second pilot is in the hospital getting medical care. At this point, nobody knows what caused the crash. Details are still being worked out.”
At approximately ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, a normal mission involving an Indian Army aviation Cheetah helicopter operating in the advanced region near Tawang resulted in the helicopter crashing. Both of the pilots were taken to the military hospital that was closest to the scene.
However, despite receiving treatment for his injuries, Lieutenant Colonel Saurabh Yadav, one of the pilots, passed away as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash. The second pilot is now undergoing treatment. According to the Army’s statement, the reason for the crash is now unknown. The specifics are now being worked out.

UPDATE: Indian Army has published the SSB Interview Dates for TES 48 Course. The date selection link for the SSB interview for the TES-48 course has been opened on 29 September 2022. The link will remain active till 03 October 2022 at 12:00 hrs.
The TES 48 shortlisted applicants can now choose their SSB interview date using the available link. Selection Center East Prayagraj, Selection Centre North Kapurthala, Selection Centre Central Bhopal, and Selection Centre South Bangalore will all host the TES 48 SSB interviews.
Candidates who have been shortlisted receive their TES 48 call letter by email and SMS. Candidates can check in and choose their SSB date on the Indian Army’s official website.
For the SSB interview, print out of online application must be accompanied by original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies i.e. 10th class certificate issued by the Board concerned (CBSE/ State Boards/lCSE) in which the date of birth is reflected for proof of date of birth (Admit card/Mark sheet/Transfer/Leaving Certificate etc. are not acceptable as proof of date of birth) and 10+2 certificate and mark sheet for proof of education and a copy of the result of JEE (Mains) 2022. The Government has decided to appoint Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retired) PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM as the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) who shall also function as Secretary to Government of India, Department of Military Affairs with effect from the date of his assumption of charge and until further orders.
In a career spanning over nearly 40 years, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan had held several command, staff and instrumental appointments and had extensive experience in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir and North-East India.
Born on 18th May 1961, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan was commissioned into the 11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army in 1981. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. In the rank of Maj General, the officer had commanded an Infantry Division in the critical Baramula sector in the Northern Command.
Later as Lt General, he commanded a corps in the North East and subsequently went to become the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command from September 2019 and held the charge until his retirement from the service in May 2021.
In addition to these command appointments, the officer also tenanted important staff appointments including the charge of Director General of Military Operations. Earlier, the officer had also served as a United Nations mission to Angola.
The officer superannuated from the Indian Army on 31 May 2021. Even after his retirement from the Army, he continued to contribute to national security and strategic matters. For his distinguished and illustrious service in the Army, Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retired) was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.

Following the discovery of a 27-year-old cadet trainee dead on the college campus, six air force officials have been charged with murder in Bengaluru, according to the police. According to reports, the event happened on Saturday at the Air Force Technical College (AFTC) in Jalahalli.
The cadet trainee allegedly committed suicide after a court of inquiry was ordered against him.
In his note of suicide, the cadet trainee Ankit Kumar Jha identified officers with the ranks of air commodore, wing commander, and group captain.
Ankit Jha’s family claims that he was subjected to frequent abuse and torture on the college grounds.
Ankit Jha was relieved of his duties after disciplinary action was started against him, claim the investigating officers. Training of deceased Under Trainee Flying Officer was terminated by IAF on charge of misconduct after complaint by a fellow female trainee officer: IAF official statement.
With regard to the FIR registered against IAF officers for murder with regard to the suicide of Under Trainee Flying Officer (UTFO) Ankit Kumar Jha, IAF says His training had been terminated on 20 September 2022.
His training was terminated after informing his father of the same. Termination of training was the result of recommendations made by a Court of Inquiry (COI), which was instituted following a complaint by a fellow woman trainee officer against the UTFO on 30 June 2022.
It had been established that the cadet had committed certain acts of misconduct. The Inquiry proceedings were duly examined at multiple levels before being approved at Air HQ, as per established procedure on the subject, says IAF.
A Court of Inquiry by IAF is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the death of the UTFO. On 24 September 2022, his kin visited AFTC. They were briefed about the incident.
IAF adds that it condoles the unfortunate loss of life and prays for strength to the bereaved family in their time of grief. IAF is cooperating with the investigation being conducted by the police on the matter.
