IAF Officer Honey Trapped – Held on Charges of Spying

0
IAF OFFICER HONEY TRAPPED - CHARGES OF SPYING

An Indian Air Force officer, posted at the Air HQs here, has been taken into custody on charge of spying, sources said on Wednesday.

According to a source, during a routine counter intelligence surveillance carried out by the IAF’s Central Security and Investigation Team, the officer, who is a group captain, was found indulging in “unwanted activities through unauthorised electronic devices”.

The source added that the officer has been taken into custody for further questioning.

The services have a strict code on engaging on social media, which restricts soldiers from sharing their identity, rank, posting and other professional details.

The restrictions include posting pictures in uniform.

In December, 2015, a dismissed IAF official was arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly passing on information to intelligence operatives suspected to be backed by Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

Real Story Behind Shopain Firing

Source: Republic It was on Sunday that the Jammu-Kashmir police booked Major Aditya and the Army’s 10 Garhwal for murder and attempt to murder for the Shopian firing. The move came after a group of stone pelters attacked an army convoy in Shopian, after which the Army had to resort to retaliatory firing. Two civilians were killed in the firing.

Now, Republic TV has accessed an information that says the army convoy was under attack by the stone-pelters and the army fired at the pelters for self defence.

Story Behind Shopain Firing
Injured Soldiers

Real Story Behind Shopain Firing

  • 10 Garhwal Rifles was being replaced by another unit.
  • They were supposed to move to Balapora and there were two routes. In one route, there was stone pelting in morning and hence the 20 vehicle convoy, including three QRT, decided to take Ganapura road. At one point in the route, the vehicles were to take a right turn.
  • However, three vehicles missed the turn and went ahead by about 100 metres. They then reversed and hence speed decreased.
  • This is when stone pelting started. A JCO got off the vehicle to assess the situation. He got hit in head and collapsed.
  • The crowd became more belligerent. The army personnel fired shot in the air. The crowd still did not go back and continued pelting stones. When the pelters came too close is when the Army opened fire.

Sources said that the army had indeed fired in air 3-4 times, however, it opened fire when the crowd was 10 metres away from the unconscious JCO.

Furthermore, Sources told Republic that Major Aditya was not even present at the spot at the time of the incident. Meanwhile, internet services have been blocked in Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian and curfew has been imposed in parts of the valley. The public transport in the valley and train services between Baramulla and Banihan have been suspended.

5 Ways to Deal With Failure in Your Career

0
5 WAYS TO DEAL WITH FAILURE IN YOUR CAREER

“The beauty of life is that whatever happens and however it happens, it goes on.”
Our lives are an amalgamation of ‘success’ and ‘failure’. For a child, his ‘success’ can be tying his shoelaces on his own. His ‘failure’ can be tripping over the same laces. But in hindsight, it is realized, that these were neither success nor failures, they were merely experiences.
How To Prepare for SSB Interview:

A failure or even a series of failures can impact you negatively. How you reassemble your thoughts and move on from that point on defines you as an individual.

Here are 5 ways to deal with failures:

  1. Let it all out
We sometimes tend to think that no one will be able to understand our situation. We milk our problem for too long, all alone. But, if we just take the time out and start sharing our problem with people we trust, a clarity of mind begins to set in.
  2. Failure is universal
By her own submission, JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, had her books being rejected by a number of publishers. Right now, it seems impossible for us to accept this fact as she is extremely famous. But, it did happen. Just imagine if she would have given up writing fearing more failures. It is by example that we should learn that failure is temporary. Faith and conviction in oneself and one’s talent should always keep one going.
  3. Move onto the next project
Life is more than what today holds. Life is a sea of opportunities. These opportunities can only be availed by you if you act fast. If you hit a roadblock, don’t wait for the traffic to clear. Backup your vehicle and move along another road. Who knows you meet up with your destination via the other way?
  4. Don’t let anyone get to you
There might be instances when someone tries to make us feel bad because of one bad experience. DO NOT let this get to you. You are not, in any way, lesser than any individual. All you have to do is work hard for the next opportunity. If your parents get worried, explain to them that this is just a small bad phase and with their support, you can ultimately achieve what you want.
  5. It does not define you
It is human tendency to remember all the bad phases but forget the good phases. But we must always remember that any bad phase of your life does not define you. You are a good human being if your kind, respectful of the law, confident and headstrong. These are the only qualities you need to imbibe and repeat about yourself, over and over again.

“No matter how often you fail, you are not a failure as long as you don’t give up.”
True, indeed.

Story

Ranjit, a 6 year old child of Subedar Major Ratan Singh and Srimati Sukma Singh, has been an active child and very enthusiastic. Subedar Major Ratan Singh was commissioned in the armored division and Srimati Sukma Singh played the role of a home maker. Subedar Major Ratan Singh had photography as his hobby and never left an opportunity to capture the childhood memories of Ranjit.  Ranjit was always awestruck when he used to see his father in uniform and the portrait of grandfather who also has been serving the forces.  Every day after school, Ranjit used to play with his toys, which included mostly the battlefield collectibles like tanks, soldier pieces and anticraft etc. His mother observing the degree of excitement and enthusiasm decided to send him to Sainik school once he qualifies the age. Years passed by and Ranjit gathered a tinge in sports and extracurricular activities that helped him getting an admission to Sainik School. His yearly report was decorated by appreciations from the instructors on the grounds of academics, participation in group activities, cultural forte and representation as a monitor for outstation activities. Ranjit qualified the exam of National Defence Academy and secured All India Rank 34 thereby making his parents proud over their decision. In the present day, Srimati Sukma Singh is going through the childhood album clicked by Subedar Major Ratan Singh. As a mother, she becomes extremely nostalgic over this picture taken a decade back and is taking immense pride over the achievements of her son.

How To Prepare for SSB Interview:

What are Equivalent Ranks of Civil Services, IPS and Defence Officers?

0
army vs ips

There has been a lot of resistance from the defence forces officers after the October 2016 MoD letter which downgraded the rank status of defence officers as compared to their civilian and IPS counterparts.

How To Prepare for SSB Interview:

There can be many criteria for obtaining equivalence between the services of India such as pay scale, functioning, status, etc. If going with pay scale, military officers have an upper hand due to the extra allowance to them as Military Service Pay (MSP) when compared to IPS and Civil Service officers.

Equivalence according to 7th CPC:

The equivalent ranks between Tri-Services, Civil Services and IPS according to their pay scale are as follows:

CAPFs RanksPolice RanksArmy RanksNavy RanksAir Force RanksCoast Guard Ranks.
Director General (Apex Scale of the Indian Police Service)C.P, Director General of a State Police ForceLieutenant General (Army Commander’s Scale)Vice Admiral (FOC-in-C’s Scale)Air Marshal (AOC-in-C’s Scale)Director General
Special Director General (HAG+ scale of Indian Police Service)C.P, Special Director GeneralLieutenant General(HAG+ Scale)Vice Admiral(HAG+ Scale)Air Marshal(HAG+ Scale)Additional Director General (HAG+ Scale)

Level 18GeneralCabinet Secretary
spot_img

Far from Reality:

These equivalence are far from reality. Because if the pay scale were to be considered, defence officers get extra Military Service Pay that makes them superior to their IPS and Civil counterparts, which is clearly not the case.

Also, the time frame for promotion of IAS officers were not reduced. This basically means that an IAS officer, after 14 years of service, would be granted the pay-scale of a Maj Gen, having 33 years of service. While this does not mean that an IAS officer with 14 years of service becomes equivalent in status to a Maj Gen, since only those IAS officers in the super time scale who are empanelled and holding posts of Joint Secy to Govt of India can be equated with a Maj Gen, still the monetary package granted to IAS officers with 14 years of service would be the same as Major Generals.

Also, since the Cabinet Secretary is the highest civil servant of India, his status is higher than the General of Indian Army.

The Correct Equivalence – The Order of Precedence:

The correct equivalence however, only virtually exists. The status of various officer holders are given below in the decreasing order of precedence. And this defines their status equivalence in All India Services. This means that person below the status of preceding person must salute/greet the person with higher status:

RankOfficer
1President
2Vice-President
