10 SSB Interview Questions Asked To Catch A Liar

0

The personality of an aspirant in the SSB is analyzed using 3 techniques and these are matched to get the actual and genuine qualities of that candidate. The techniques are Psychology, GTO, and Interview, which aims at bringing the personality traits out by pen and paper methods, actions method and what candidate speaks. All are equally crucial and matter a lot at their place.

Talking about the Personal interview, it is a mutual conversation between a candidate and the interviewing officer to draw maximum qualitative matter from the candidate. There are certain ways used by the interviewing officer to bring the truth from the candidate and segregating the liars. So, here are 10 ways in which the IO checks for the lies in the conversation/ Interview.

10 SSB Interview Questions Asked To Catch A Liar

  1. Rapid fire – Rapid fire is the most common and the most targeted practice used by the Interviewing officer to bring out the truth. In this, the IO asks certain questions related to a specific topic. The candidate has to memorize the questions with its sequence and answer them, which makes them to speak out the truth and catching the lair.
  2. I am not interested in this, tell me something interesting thing about it – This is usually asked to bring more transparency in the statement of the candidates and make him to explain the statement in a more justified and clear way. When the candidate loses his moral from this response of the IO, he either gets puzzled or speaks out the truth.
  3. Probing/cross Questioning – The best way to bring out the truth behind any statement is to probe by a cross-questioning method, where the IO puts more question on the specific issue related to the candidate and checks whether the candidate is genuinely speaking the truth or just beating the bushes.
  4. Oh that’s common. How did you do that? – The IO supports the candidate that whatever he has done is right, which make the candidate frank and normal. These tactics make the candidates speak out each and everything in a truthful manner and helps in distinguishing the liars.
  5. Oh Really? That was appreciable. How did you do that? – The appreciation always gives confidence to the candidate, and when it is from the side of an officer, especially IO, the candidates take it as a reward and explains truthfully whatever he has done.
  6. Speak about it for 5 minutes – The IO sometimes asks the candidate to speak out in on a specific thing for 5-10 minutes. Like speak about your friends for 5 minutes or speak about your family and teacher (school/ College) for 5 minutes. The candidate has to explain the thing in much elaborate form which makes him speak truth.
  7. Don’t hesitate. I am like your Father/ consider me a good friend of yours – To make the candidate comfortable in sharing the truth with anything, the IO motivates him by making this statement. This brings the candidate more open and makes him share the actual scenario in front of the IO.
  8. Explain this thing with 5 Examples – Whenever a candidate says anything about himself, specifically, things related to the qualities, the IO asks for the Examples of it, which is very hard to commemorate and represent in front for him. And the most difficult thing is to relate and justify it, which brings out the truth in front of the IO.
  9. Asking the solution of any situation – When a candidate explain his qualities, the IO asks certain situation from the candidate and asks for the possible solution from candidate’s point of view or his way of dealing with the situation. This easily brings out whether the candidates has been speaking the truth or was lying.
  10. Everybody does that. it is not a big thing – Usually, when it comes to the negative qualities, like smoking, drinking etc, the IO asks such questions to bring out whether the candidate is an addict or not. This question helps in getting the candidate busted.

Conclusion – It is always advised to handle the interview in a smart manner and stay truthful because truthful statements always come with fluency and bring confidence. But don’t speak out unnecessary things, which you know are going to harm your performance in Interview. The above questions are for those, who try to bluff the selection penal. But remember, the officers in the panel are trained to test about 10-20 candidates daily. So be truthful and speak relevant things and stay to the point.

Cracked SSB Interview In 4th Attempt To Join Indian Air Force

1

I am Amartya Deshmukh, 4th Attempt for NDA- IAF. Previous 3 attempts- Not recommended (136, 137 & 138 NDA ) (All the interviews were held at Mysore for NDA Air Force). 139th NDA Course, 2AFSB Mysore, 14-18 Aug 2017. Chest no. 66

Day 1: Fore Noon Session Morning. Basic documents check & form filling. OIR- I had solved the sets in my previous attempts, so it was easy. After Noon Session  (Post lunch) PP&DT- I was used to the hazy pictures, so wrote my story in less than 4 minutes. Story had a good plot. On the way to discussion room, tried to get an idea of my group mates story. My group had 11 members. Narrated my story to the point, in less than 45 seconds. Discussion was fish market (as expected in repeater’s group). My contribution was combining the various small points in different stories, also I forced the group to conclude & to decide what to include & what not to. One guy volunteered to narrate the story but he screwed up the story badly (he didn’t get through screening). We agreed to his narrated story as group had nominated him.

Screening results- Announced, 5/11 in my group made it through Phase 1. After that we filled our PIQ forms.

Psychology tests

  • TAT- Stories were good. 12th story was prescripted. Average word count was 100+/-10.
  • WAT- Wrote whatever came to my mind. For some words, I couldn’t think of a sentence, for those, I wrote words related to that word that came to my mind. Completed all words.
  • SRT- Wrote actions in small phrases. Completed all well within time.
  • SDT- Normal. Wrote everybody’s opinion.

Day 2

Group Tasks (GTO Officer- Wg Cdr)

  • Group discussion
  • India has poor water distribution throughout the country. We have floods & at the same time also draughts. Which of the following is the best option to tackle this problem?
  • Large reservoirs
  • River interlinking
  • Better rainwater harvesting (I took this point- highlighted why this one is better than other two)
  • Weapon & equipment induction takes a long time in Indian Armed forces. Amongst the following what do you think is the reason for this?
  • Slow technological advancement of our country
  • Red Tapeism (I spoke from this point)
  • Low morale of researchers & developers in our laboratories.
  1. Group planning exercise

This part was good. The format was standard so this was easy.

  1. Progressive group task

Completed all obstacles. Gave many ideas. Many of them worked, few didn’t.

  1. Half group task

GTO asked how should the group be split. I quickly said odd-even. He subsequently did so & asked who wanted to go first. I quickly raised my hand & said that I wanted my group to go first.

Task was simple. Had a solution in the first couple of minutes. Implemented solution & completed it in 5 minutes.

  1. Lecturette

I spoke on the third topic “Odd-even no. scheme for vehicles on road”. Spoke for completely 3 minutes. The first topic was “Censorship in Military Affairs”.(I don’t remember other two)

Day 3

  1. Command task

I was called third last (7th/9). GTO asked from where I had come. What happened in my previous three attempts?

What new preparation I had done for this particular attempt? (As a part of preparation I had visited AFS Bidar) I told the GTO that I had went to AFS Bidar to prepare for this attempt, cleared my doubts & analysed my previous mistakes.
GTO asked me how did I got there?- I had visited NDA for POP, the Suryakiran Formation team had performed there. I had met some officers there. In my holidays, I called AFS Bidar & asked for that particular officer. He then invited me to Bidar to discuss.
GTO- Okay Amartya that was good. I then called two helpers & started my CT. I hadn’t completed my first leg of solution GTO made one of the WHITE part to RED. I found out next solution he made WHITE part to YELLOW.

I was now thinking for the next solution, GTO said “commander you’re running out of time” (Even 5 minutes hadn’t elapsed). Finally I found third solution, GTO agreed & asked me to return.

  1. Individual obstacle: I attempted 7, but could clear only 5. 5/10 cleared.
  1. Final Group task: This task was also good. Equal to that of PGT. Group obstacle race wasn’t conducted.

Day 4

  • Personal interview (IO- Wg Cdr, also was our batch’s DSO)
  • General questions about myself. About my family, friends. Most question were from my PIQ. Questions about my school, sports I played, hobbies, positions of responsibility I held in school & college & extracurricular activities. & some National & International news.
  • In the interview, I forgot to mention DOKLAM region stand-off when IO specifically asked me about defence related national new.
  • IO did not ask me single IAF related question.
Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)

Days 5

Conference

  • I was the second last person in batch. Discussion before I was called in lasted for about 12-15 minutes.
  • I went in. I was asked which is this attempt of yours? Where were previous SSB held? What happened in those Interviews? (All answered)
  • What inspires you to join the defence forces?- I said that the discipline & calmness of officers motivates me to join the Air Force.
  • I was asked if any suggestions. I didn’t have. Left the conference hall.

Results were announced. 8/67 made it through. 2 repeaters including me. The other one was from Sainik School. After conference we filled forms till 3 o’ clock next day. We were given goodie bag & then left AFSB. Here’s a selfie taken at the Mysore Railway Station with the goodie Bag.afsb interview

Dear friends,

This was my 4th time at the same AFSB. Preparation & approach was totally different this time as compared to last 3. I had attended coaching this time also(like previous 3), bought 3 SSB related books, video lectures, but the most important thing I did was to just use the material as help. At the SSB, I did what I felt right.

My session with Dy Cmdt of Indian Coast Guard-

My father, in his office had come across an Asst Cmdt (now a Dy Cmdt) of ICG. Me & my father became close towards him due to my desire of joining Armed Forces. Being conferenced out thrice, he called me over for a session at Mumbai. I had a 5-hour long session wherein he analysed my previous mistakes in Interview, GT & Psych tests. We discussed in detail the shortcomings in y performance and made a solid mold of what to do and what not to do strictly. This helped me a lot in all my 3 assessments

My AFS Bidar visit-

As a motivation for myself, before my third attempt for NDA (for 138th NDA course), I attended Passing Out Parade at NDA. (It is open for general public- Passes are needed). Fortunately, SuryaKiran Formation Acrobatic Team (SKAT) of the IAF had performed that day.

Out of sheer curiosity, after the air show had ended, I spoke to the ground commentator (Wg Cdr) of the team. I spoke to him regarding my previous attempts & my desire to join the NDA. We interacted hardly for 5-6 minutes.
In the Jan ’17 AFSB, I got conferenced out.

Come May ’17, I had holidays. I called AFS Bidar, 52 Sqn, & asked for the same officer. The officer (lets call him N) called me back & instantly asked me to come down to Bidar to stay with him for few days.

The following week I went to Bidar. N made my boarding arrangement in the Officer’s mess (This was itself truly a motivation for me). The same day I arrived in Bidar, N took me for a squadron party. Party was for welcoming new pilots & send off for outgoing pilots of the Squadron. In the party I interacted with a lot many officers from the rank of Gp Cpt to Flt Lt. The next few days’ evenings were spent at N’s home. N’s wife was an ATC officer, her brother is a Col in the Indian Army & her father was a Met Officer in the IAF (In short, the whole house was in Defence forces). N had cleared AFSB in his 2nd attempt, while N’s brother-in-law had cleared SSB in 6th attempt (N’s BIL desperately wanted to join the IAF, but couldn’t get through AFSB 5 times. He cleared SSB for IA in the next attempt).

So based on these stories & their experiences we had a long session for 4-5 days.

On my 3rd day of stay, N took me to the squadron. He handed me over to a young trainee fighter pilot (Fl Off). He took me around the station. I saw different simulators for BAe Hawk MK 132, the aircrafts itself. Also FO being a recent pass out of academy, guided me about my approach at AFSB.

Along with this, I also participated in Inter Squadron cycle race of AFS Bidar, attended Iftar party & met a lot of young officers at the station

Coming to my AFSB interview, due to all of the interaction at AFS Bidar, I was lot of comfortable with my IO & GTO. This helped me a lot while I was put into tricky situations.

So, friends this was my Interview story. I hope everybody desiring of joining the forces make his/her dream come true. We don’t know what lies in future for us, but let me assure you that it is a glorious future just that WE have to walk upto there.

Concluding, Paulo Coelho has rightly said “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping youth achieve it.”

All the best everyone out there. Get in touch if any help/clarification is required.

P.S. These pages also helped & kept me focused and motivated a lot during preparations.

  1. SSB Crack / FB Page (for all preparation related stuff)
  2. Indian Military Humour (for all humour needs, also they have quite good opinion about recent army related happenings)
  3. Tejas-India’s MRCA (best technical page related to Indian Armed forces, these guys have extensive knowledge about equipments in forces)
  4. Fauji Dil ki Baatein (for good motivational poetry about “faujis”)

Recommended For Indian Army

Hello warriors!  I am Divyanshu Dembi and I got recommended from 17 SSB Bangalore for TES-38.

Little bit about me: I was born and brought up in Jammu, although I am originally from Kashmir. My father is a teacher at Sainik School Nagrota, so I had the privilege of spending my childhood in the lush green campus of the school. I did my schooling from Sainik School Nagrota. Whilst in school, I picked up many skills. I became a good orator and was also a senior member of the basketball team, having the privilege of playing nationals. I was also good in studies. I had qualified NDA written exam for NDA 138, but got conference out in my first attempt at 22 SSB Bhopal. It shattered my world, I was broken; but I picked up from where I had fallen and was committed towards earning that plus sign. I honestly evaluated myself and took feedback from others as well, and started working on my weaknesses. I did not take any coaching as I thought it would be nothing but a waste of time. As a matter of fact I did not do ANY preparation for this SSB, I just went there with the right bent of mind, and that was to get recommended. To become an officer, you have to first believe that you can become one!

REPORTING DAY: 26 Aug 2017 I reached Bangalore on 26 itself. 160 candidates had reported for this batch. Then we had our briefing, and form filling that was very tedious and cumbersome. We got free at 8 in the evening! They took our phones and due to that I couldn’t use my headphones any longer!     (P.S: I love my headphones very much) Had my Dinner and slept peacefully. Another thing to mention here is that I had did a lot of practice for my first attempt, and that included writing stories for many pictures. So I simply read all the stories I had written earlier, but didn’t let them get imprinted on my mind. You must be original in writing stories!

SCREENING DAY: 27 Aug 2017 I had no intention of waking up early, but due to some other over-enthusiastic candidates who got up at 3:30 am I too had to get up at 4:30 am! Had my bath and then read some stories. Then we had to take out our luggage at 6 in the morning, and had our breakfast. Then we were taken to a hall where we first had our verbal-non verbal test, which is very easy. I firmly believe no preparation is needed for this. Then we were shown a picture on which we all wrote a story. (Won’t tell you what was in the picture! :p)Then we were divided in groups and sent for narration and GD. Having screened in two times, I believe from what I could understand that the key to screening in is being CONFIDENT. Just be confident in your narration and take a little part in your GD, and you should be screened IN! GD was obviously a fish market, but as I say to others, “you’ve got to sell your fish too!”. That being done, we were sent outside to wait for our results. Then we were called in for our results. 40 out of 160 were screened in. Then again we had to fill too many forms, and that was very boring!

Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)

PSYCHOLOGY TEST & INTERVIEW: 28 Aug 2017

We were woken up by the calls of “UTHOOOO” by a guard who stayed with us. Fun Fact: we lived in women accommodation there, because the main candidates accommodation was being renovated. So we got separate rooms with just two people in one room. It was good! Also, I played a lot of Table Tennis there. So, we were called for our Psych test around 8 in the morning. As many of you would know, psych test consists of writing 11 stories back to back followed by a blank slide, WAT, SRT, and Self Description. I had only one thing in my mind, and that was to be free and honest. I did 60 WAT, 60 SRT. I believe you should attempt every words, and SRT because if you don’t that reflects that your thinking stops on a particular word or situation. Even though IT IS NOT NECESSARY to do all. All other recommended candidates did not complete all. I believe SD is the most important part of this test because you have to unfold yourself here. I was completely honest with my weaknesses, and what I want to improve. I wrote that I have problem making decisions fast (even though Decision making being an OLQ), I wrote that I can be a little rigid sometimes, that I undermine myself sometimes. The bottom-line is that I was honest.

I hadn’t anticipated but I had my interview on the same day. Now the thing is, that I had not ironed any of my two shirts that I had brought for my SSB, thinking that I will do the same at the center; and being the psych test, I also did not tie my tie. So, I went in to give my interview with a heavily wrinkled shirt with no tie! My interview was taken by Dy President. I went in with a smile, and maintained it throughout the interview. The IO asked me a lot of informative questions like ‘what is the biggest peninsula?’ ‘What is the biggest delta?’ ‘Name one awarded martyr from J&K’ And to nearly 75% of these questions, my answer was “I don’t know, sir!” .

I had written physics as my interest in my PIQ , so he grilled me on that topic. He asked me a lot of Physics questions, and obviously I couldn’t answer all of them. He tried to put a lot of pressure on me, but the key here is to repel all the pressure and being cool and confident. He asked me about the ‘3 second rule’ we have in basketball. I answered him correctly, but he did not take it to be correct. He said that I was not answering correctly, but obviously I knew I was, so I stuck to my answer. He was checking how sure this person is of himself. Then he grilled me a lot on my expenses and budget, and how I spend my money. Then he asked me a lot of questions regarding family, and all the personal questions like ‘Tell me something you would like to have from your parents, and something which you would not’ ‘Who you consider as your role model in your family?’ Now to this question, my answer was my Father, and I gave him reasons for the same. Then he asked me who do I go to when I have problems, and to that my answer was my elder sister. Then he grilled me that if you consider your father as your role model then why you go to your sister, why not to your father? My answer was that being in my age group, my sister can better understand myself. My point here is that yu must have genuine, solid reasons for any of your behavior. In the entire interview, I was cool and confident; and I believe that was what sailed me through.

GTO DAY 1 : 29 Aug 2017

Woke up early, and did not have breakfast because GTO! We started with a little briefing by our GTO, and then went on to do GD. The first topic for GD was how USA’s declining relations with Pakistan is affecting India (we chose this topic, the other being medical tourism). I initiated this GD, and I believe initiation can score you some good marks. We had a good discussion on this topic. The next topic was given by the GTO and it was about the rising trend of godmen and ‘Babas’. We had a healthy discussion on this topic too. Then we had our GPE, which was okay. Then we started with our outdoor tasks such as PGT,HGT, Snake race, Individual obstacles and we also had our Lectures on the same day. My outdoor tasks went okaish, not too good I would say, but I was always participating, and never was out of the group, even though I was at the back every time! I did 9 out of 10 obstacles. Now there is one funny instance I want to share. I chose ‘Corporate Governance’ as my topic. Now, I thought corporate governance means that big companies will replace the democratically chosen government! And I confidently spoke well about it, but the fact is that Corporate Governance means supervising of a company by a board of directors! I completely missed the actual definition and spoke about something else entirely!! In the evening we went outside to McD because there was nothing better to do there!ssb interview

GTO DAY 2: 30 Aug 2017

With only two tasks left, that were FGT, and CT; I was very much relaxed. We had our FGT that was very easy, and we finished it in no time! Now came CT, the task that frightens most of the candidates. Now my strategy was to tell at least one candidate to call me as helper, and I would call him as my helper. This way at least you are sure that one person will call you! In the end 4 people ended up calling me. Now my turn came for the CT. My CT was fairly simple I believed, but what mattered was how I approached the obstacle. I got in first, and made sure I knew how to complete the obstacle. Then I called my sub-ordinates and let them reach the end line first, and I got outside in the end. See, this shows that you are a true leader, you go in first, make sure everything is fine and working and then call in your men. You lead. After this we were free, and decided to g out again, this time to KFC. We had two vegetarians with us, who just sat idle while we enjoyed our chickens!

CONFERENCE : 31 Aug 2017

The big day! Now the thing was that I had developed very high fever the previous day, and even after taking medicine; my health condition was so bad that I couldn’t even stand up properly. My friends had to literally take me to the conference hall. I had very high fever and a splitting headache that just won’t go! Then we had our closing address by Dy President. My turn came, the whole board was sitting in front of me, but I of course couldn’t look at everyone; just at the Dy president as he was the senior most there. He asked me about the meaning of my name, and that was it! We waited for some time, and then we were called in for the result. The officer came holding a paper in his hand that contained fates of many people there. He said that the result is average, but also mentioned that 5-6 people had just missed by a whisker, and I thought that this is it! I’m one of those 5-6 people. Then he began calling out chest numbers. I didn’t really think I would get selected. I had my mobile phone out on the desk, and was casually siiting, when suddenly he said “Chest number 27”. I was taken aback, I quickly got up, put my phone in my pocket and spelled my name for him. For at least 10-15 minutes I couldn’t believe what had just happened! I was very happy!

MEDICALS: Feeling on top of the world, but then it all came crashing down. I got to know that I had Dengue. All those high fevers and weakness, along with vomiting and pains had been dengue. I had to withdraw from my medicals to get my treatment for Dengue. I became hospitalized just after coming out of the center. But I am still happy, because I know no matter what happened this time, if my focus and determination towards achieving my goal is strong enough, I will again achieve this plus sign. And I WILL don the olive green, no matter how much time or effort it takes, because nothing worth having comes easy, and we are here to fight.

15 Qualities Of Lady Cadets Every Girl Should Have

0
15 QUALITIES OF LADY CADETS EVERY GIRL SHOULD HAVE

Strong women rise from the ashes of their former selves. They are built from the fires of hardships and struggles. They earn every bit of their strength.

Toughness, confidence, and independence are most admirable traits of a Lady Officer. A perfect mix of vulnerability and strength, which is not always easy to portray without coming off in a negative light. And a Lady Cadet while being in the training academy polishes her ordinary attributes to that level of extraordinariness where she learns that humility is not about thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less and more of others.

We are all endowed with greatness, and only we can unlock the chest that contains that powerful, priceless spirit.  Sharing some qualities that make Lady Cadets stand out among the rest and which we can inculcate in our lifestyle:

  1. Positive Attitude: There is no energy that can imitate what is released when a positive, high-stepping woman enters a room. A positive attitude is the fuel required to drive us from conceiving an idea to realizing it.
A positive attitude takes conscious effort on your part. Get hold of negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones. Listen to the things you are saying to yourself in your mind. Deliberately use words that focus on constructive, affirming truths about yourself.
To help you stay positive, surround yourself with people who will encourage, inspire and believe in you. If you have a positive attitude, you will be able to see the potential that lies within you.
  2. Courage: Women who have struggled in their lives tend to have astonishing inner strength. Use adversity to your advantage. At the end of a struggle, you are a better, more valuable person. Helen Keller said, “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.” Find what you are meant to learn in a struggle, and you will see that it isn’t as fierce as it appears to be.
Current Affairs questions will be from last 5-7 months (for AFCAT, NDA, CDS, TA)
  3. Strong Minded: Strong minded doesn’t mean that you are rude, arrogant or superior. On the contrary, a strong-minded woman displays confidence. When you are strong minded, you are empowered, possess a healthy self-image and take responsibility for your life. The pioneering spirit, by its very nature, requires us to consider possibilities that most aren’t brave enough to.
  4. Soft-Hearted: Compassion allows us to reach beyond our cookie-cutter lives and make a difference in the lives of others. By reaching out to others, we grow as individuals. A woman with a compassionate heart has great influence.
  5. Integrity: You don’t need to leave victims in your path to be victorious. You don’t need to step on others to step to the next level. Integrity must be the very core of your character. Always put honor before anything and live by your convictions. As you gain respect and trust, your association with others will grow.
  6. Balance in Life: Our lives revolve around four major categories: family and friends, health, wealth, and spirit. These domains must be balanced to lead a fulfilled life. Evaluate your balance continually. A balanced life allows you to think clearly with imagination and optimism.

  7. Driven by a Cause: Look up for those stars which motivate you to do something. Find the needs in your life ventures and pursue those causes with passion.
  8. Leadership:  Great woman lead. Let everyone know what you have that ignites that flame within. You can help mold the great woman of tomorrow.
  9. Multi tasking: Be a hero at both the home front and the professional front. Like our Lady Officers, manage your personal and professional life and pursue both personal and mission accomplishment.
  10. Fitness: Physical as well as mental fitness has always been recommended for living a healthy lifestyle. Also, it manifests you into a completely different person. You are strong, confident and poised.
  11. Mental Toughness:  Being a strong and mentally tough woman is not about behaving like a man. Instead, it is about embracing your femininity and showing it to the world, while making sure that you take control of the things that you are doing and get them done.
  12. Decision Making: Deciding when to stick it out for yourself for a good cause and when to restrain. Deciding the right prospectives in the wrong situations. Deciding when to give your affirmation. Deciding when to trust your guts. All it simply takes is good decision-making skills. Though nobody is perfect, it’s just fine to accept and forgive yourself for the wrong decisions made.
  13. Adaptability: Nothing in life is constant. Change is a part of life and adaptability is a way of living life. You have to be ready always for all kinds of changes and embrace them heartily as and when it comes.
  14. Passion:  Fill yourself with deep desire and determination to realize your dreams. Make long- term goals and commit yourself to it.
  15. Challenging Lifestyle: You want to keep growing and improving, which is why you must keep pushing yourselves more even onto new boundaries. Make sure that you don’t only do good but better.

Our strength and poise aren’t built in a gym. They built from the trials and tests we encounter in our lives! Remember, STRONG IS BEAUTIFUL!!

Recommended for Indian Navy – NAIC (SSC) JAN 2018 Batch

0
navy ssb candidates

Hello friends, I am Priyanka Chhikara from Haryana. I got recommended for Indian Navy – NAIC entry from 33 SSB Bhopal in first attempt. Getting a chest number with plus sign, it was a dream comes true.

A BRIEF BACKGROUND ABOUT ME

I am BE (IT) graduate and currently pursuing MBA in HR. I have a work experience of about 2 years with IRIS Business (Mumbai) and IBM India         (Bangalore). Being from defence background and having friends in Naval academy, I was constantly getting motivated to be a part of armed forces.

It was my first attempt, so I wanted to give 100%. I started my preparation with the following channels – 1) AFOSOP SSB Guidance 2) SSB ADDA and I was also referring SSBCrack.com. Then I decided to purchase a package of Video lectures, psychological assessment and mock interview by Dr. (Cdr) N K Natrajan from Amazon.in. It was worth one time investment for the preparation. Getting a correct guidance will not only speed up your performance but will also satisfy your mind that you are on a right track and keep pushing yourself on the same path. As Natrajan Sir, rightly said “First attempt is the best attempt.” I gave my 200%, being calm throughout the selection process, didn’t panic and used common sense (:-P) during the tasks.

The story may go long but I assure you, it will be worth reading.

REPORTING DAY: 9 AUGUST 2017 AT 1400HRS

We were 7 Girls, who started journey on 07 Aug from Bangalore to Bhopal and reached on 8 Aug 17, reported next day at MCO. We all became good friends on this SSB journey. At 1300hrs we were picked up for the SSB centre. After reaching, we were allotted accommodation and each room was shared by 6 candidates. In the evening at 1630hrs, we were asked to report to admin block for document verification and allotment of chest number. Total 69 candidates were present. I was allotted with chest no 58. Almost 20-25 were repeaters and rest all were fresher. We were briefed about the do’s and don’ts for comfortable stay and programme for next day procedure.

SCREENING DAY: 10 AUGUST 2017

We were asked to report at 0630hrs and the exam started at 0730hrs.

OIR Test: –    Before taking the exam, we were briefed about the pattern of the exam. Practice booklet was given in order to have an idea of both verbal and non verbal reasoning questions. Verbal Reasoning: 75 Ques in 35 mins were to be done. I was able to complete 51 Questions. Non Verbal Reasoning: 60 Ques in 30 mins. I was able to complete around 53 questions.

PP&DT: – We were shown a hazy picture of a person standing at the window. I had written a story from my life, so it was easy for me to remember and narrate it confidently during the discussion. I had spoken only twice in the discussion, but the timing was perfect. I gave contribution with logic points, supported the group story and we were able to conclude a story.

Result: The screening result was declared after lunch. 24 out of 69 made it to next stage. I was allotted new chest number 12 for next stage.

We were given instructions for our next stage. After keeping our luggage to the re-allotted room and after lunch, we reported to the hall, where we filled PIQ forms and cell phones were deposited.

PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST : 11 AUGUST 2017 AT 0630HRS

TAT: I made positive stories and all of them were related to my life in one way or the other. Time was the major factor here. Be natural in your stories and give workable ideas, which actually could be of use, if you got stuck in that situation. There is a myth among female candidates that your main characters must be a female only. Not required, out of my 12 stories 5 stories were having male lead character. I didn’t made female as my lead if it was not shown in the image instead just wrote down the story with what was shown. For the blank story, you can prepare and go.

WAT: I was able to complete 58 words out of 60. But was also lucky to complete those 2 words after completing SD. So complete all 60 wordsJ. I Didn’t memorised any sentences against any word instead practiced in such a way that after seeing any word, my brain thinks for a cause and effect relation or a simple positive sentence which I believe and follow.

SRT: I had completed 51 situations with complete action and 52nd was left incomplete as time got over.

SD: I had prepared the paragraphs well in my preparation and wrote almost the same.

GTO: 12 & 13 AUGUST 2017 AT 0615 HRS

Being a sportsperson, I love both outdoor and indoor activities. I was very excited about the GTO tasks. We were divided into 3 groups of 8.

GD: I didn’t initiate in both the rounds of GD instead, I listened very carefully for 2-3 candidates. After analysing their level on the topics, I entered the discussion and raised the level of discussion by giving logical points and examples from the news and corporate world (advantage of only working professional in the group) and spoke 4-5 times till the end.

GPE: I gave workable ideas, listened carefully to others, agreed on other points and convinced them on my solutions as well. We were able to conclude the solutions for all the given problems. The group selected me to present the plan to GTO.

PGT, HGT and FGT: I was able to give workable ideas at the correct time and was also able to catch the hint given by GTO. I also helped others in executing their ideas to accomplish their task.

LECTURETTE: I spoke on “Security in Public places” for 2 mins 30 sec. Having general awareness on topic, one can speak for about 3 mins.

GOR: This is the best part of GTO. Our group choose “Har Har Mahadev “as war cry”. I was one among the 3, who cleared the obstacle with the (snake) rope and also helped the whole group to cross the 2 wall obstacle (in which I fell thrice and got sprain in my left foot). The environment was so energetic and enthusiastic that even the sprain couldn’t stop me from completing the tasks on the both GTO days.

IO: I was able to complete only 5 of them (9,1,7,2,5).Because my ankle was swollen up by the next day, I was slow in running between the obstacles due to severe pain in my ankle.

COMMAND TASK: I was called twice as subordinates and gave idea once as a subordinate. Before my command task, GTO had a short interaction about my work, my father profession (IAF), what my brother do, how I prepared myself for SSB, why do I choose Navy over Air Force? During the task, GTO did make my task difficult and also gave hint, wherever I was stuck. I was able to sense those hints (thanks to video lectures by Natrajan Sir). I was satisfied with my performance till now.

INTERVIEW: 13 AUGUST 2017

After GTO task was completed, my interview started. So I attended in the same uniform. Since I came running from the GTO ground, my interviewing officer asked normal questions regarding the stay, how was the GTO, how will I rate myself, which IO task I didn’t performed. While I was answering these questions, I made myself relaxed and cool. I can divide my interview into 3 portions – PIQ, Technical and GK. It lasted for around 01 Hr and 10 mins.

PIQ: Questions from work life, education, college life, family, friends, hobbies, sports, my responsibilities in office and at home etc. The questions here will depend on what is mentioned in PIQ form and counter questions from what you say.

Technical: Questions based on maths calculation, why mobile are called as cell phones? Why there is 1024 byte in 1KB? Bicycle working principle, Ship working, questions on navy, systems in ships, networking related question. In this portion I was not able to answer some 3 questions.

GK: It was like a KBC game. Some 10 questions like rapid fire. I was able to answer only one word and the officer asked next one by then. Since I had preparation, I was able to answer most of them. Questions were like CEOs of various companies, Malabar exercise, Motto of Air Force and Navy, Chief of Air Staff, issue with China, Maritime neighbours of India, Malacca and homruz, distance of Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar islands from main land, number of islands in Andaman and Nicobar, total coastal line of India, ports from where navy is not operating and some questions on Haryana.

CONFERENCE: 14 AUGUST 2017 AT 0800 HRS

The conference day started with a closing address by one of the testing officers. Thereafter, we were asked to wait for our chest number till the bell rings and then go into the conference hall. I waited for 15 mins before my turn came. I was asked about the stay, how much I will rate myself overall out of 10, what did I learned here, what did I do in spare time in SSB and then I was asked to leave. After this conference, result was announced and 6 of us got recommended. We were congratulated by the board president. Then we came back and our friends were waiting for us to hug and say good bye. We met everyone and they all left.

We were asked to stay back for another 5 days for medical at MH Bhopal. All of us were declared medically fit by the President Medical Board on 19 August 2017. Now I am waiting for the call letter/merit list in the month of Nov/Dec.
At last a few words from my side “Your thoughts impact your action. Clear your thought process, Believe in Yourself and things will happen”.

Best Wishes to all aspirants.

Jai Hind!! Jai Bharat!! Jai Haryana!! Jai Ram Ji Ki.
