Crewed by the resilient duo of Lieutenant Commander Roopa A and Lieutenant Commander Dilna K, INSV Tarini is poised to undertake the return voyage to Goa, covering a distance of approximately 2900 nautical miles.

The expedition, a showcase of seamanship and endurance, was ceremoniously flagged off by distinguished yachtsman Commander Abhilash Tomy (Retd), KC, NM, who serves as the official mentor of the two women officers.

The flag-off ceremony, attended by Capt Manish Sain, Director of the Indian Naval Sailing Association (INSA), and members of the High Commission of India in Mauritius, was a poignant moment highlighting the spirit of camaraderie and cooperation that defines the maritime community.

As INSV Tarini charted its course across the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean, a Maritime Coast Guard Dornier aircraft overflew the vessel, symbolizing the unwavering support and vigilance of the Indian Navy in safeguarding maritime interests.

The expedition serves as a crucial component of the preparation training for the upcoming circumnavigation planned to commence in September this year, further solidifying India’s presence and prowess in the realm of oceanic exploration and adventure.

Prior to embarking on its transoceanic journey, INSV Tarini completed a remarkable non-stop voyage of 22 days from INS Mandovi, Goa, arriving at Port Louis on March 21, 2024.

During its port visit, the crew and support staff of Tarini had the honor of calling on Her Excellency Mrs. K Nandini Singla, the High Commissioner of India to Mauritius. Her Excellency’s visit onboard provided an opportunity for interaction with the crew, where she extended her best wishes for fair winds and smooth seas on this historic voyage.

The transoceanic expedition of INSV Tarini not only showcases the operational capabilities and navigational prowess of the Indian Navy but also exemplifies the courage, resilience, and determination of its personnel, particularly Lieutenant Commander Roopa A and Lieutenant Commander Dilna K.

As they navigate the vast expanses of the ocean, braving the elements and confronting the unknown, they embody the ethos of service and sacrifice that defines the Indian Armed Forces.

As INSV Tarini continues its journey across the high seas, it serves as a beacon of inspiration and pride, epitomizing India’s maritime heritage and its commitment to exploration, adventure, and excellence.

With each wave that breaks against its hull, INSV Tarini forges a path of discovery and adventure, carrying the hopes and aspirations of a nation towards new horizons of achievement and glory.
