India’s 1st Indigenous Bomber UAV Unveiled In Bengaluru

Nestled in a sprawling 12,000 sq.ft facility at Electronic City, the state-of-the-art manufacturing unit of Flying Wedge Defence has been the birthplace of the FWD-200B. This UAV, a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) combat vehicle, boasts a payload capacity of 100 kg and is equipped for both surveillance and precision airstrikes.

In a significant stride toward self-reliance in defense technologies, India has introduced its first indigenously developed bomber UAV, the FWD-200B. Crafted by Flying Wedge Defence, this pioneer in aerospace technologies has unveiled a game-changer in aerial warfare on Friday.

The unveiling of the FWD-200B marks a milestone in India’s long-standing endeavor to curtail its dependency on expensive foreign unmanned combat aircraft. Flying Wedge Defence’s initiative is a cornerstone of the ‘Make in India’ program, aiming to establish India as a frontrunner in global drone technology and manufacturing.

FWD 200B UAV

“For over 15 years, the goal of producing a domestic combat drone seemed unattainable. Today, with the FWD-200B, not only have we realized this dream, but we’ve also positioned India alongside leading nations in combat aircraft technology,” stated Suhas Tejaskanda, the visionary founder of Flying Wedge Defence & Aerospace.

In a striking comparison, Tejaskanda highlighted the cost-effectiveness of the FWD-200B, priced at just Rs 25 crores, against the Rs 250 crores US Predator drone. This price reduction underscores India’s commitment to affordable defense solutions and solidifies its status as a leader in the sector.

Indias First Indigenous Bomber Drone

Nestled in a sprawling 12,000 sq.ft facility at Electronic City, the state-of-the-art manufacturing unit of Flying Wedge Defence has been the birthplace of the FWD-200B. This UAV, a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) combat vehicle, boasts a payload capacity of 100 kg and is equipped for both surveillance and precision airstrikes.

Designed to travel at a maximum speed of 200 knots (370 kmph) and with an endurance ranging from 12 to 20 hours, the FWD-200B is built for both endurance and efficiency. The drone integrates advanced optical surveillance with missile-like weaponry, enabling precise and strategic operations from the skies.

The FWD-200B not only represents a leap forward in combat capabilities but also in technological innovation, reflecting India’s growing prowess in the defense sector. This indigenous development paves the way for future advancements and positions India on the global map of cutting-edge military technology. With this step, India not only enhances its national security but also sets a new standard in cost-effective defense strategies, marking a new era in combat readiness and aerospace achievement.
