In a significant step towards bolstering bilateral defence cooperation between India and Indonesia, Air Marshal (Retd) Mr. Donny Ermawan Toufanto, Secretary General of Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence, paid a courtesy visit to General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of India.
The meeting, held at the apex level, underscored the deep-rooted cultural, civilizational, and ideological linkages between the two nations, highlighting their shared commitment to promoting peace and security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
During the discussions, General Anil Chauhan reiterated the importance of the longstanding historical ties between India and Indonesia, emphasizing the pivotal role both nations play in shaping the strategic landscape of the IOR.
Recognizing the strategic convergence of interests, the CDS underscored the need for closer cooperation and collaboration between India and Indonesia to address common security challenges and promote regional stability.

General Anil Chauhan welcomed Indonesia’s initiatives to strengthen defence cooperation with India and expressed India’s readiness to explore opportunities for joint exercises, training programs, and capacity-building initiatives.
He underscored India’s commitment to supporting Indonesia in enhancing its defence capabilities and reiterated India’s status as a reliable partner in the region.
