An intense gunfight broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Sunday morning after the Indian Army established contact with terrorists in the Dul area during an intelligence-based operation. The White Knight Corps confirmed the development on social media, stating, “Gunfire exchanged. Operation under progress.”
The engagement comes just a day after two soldiers, Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, were killed during overnight firing in Kulgam. The clash in Kulgam, part of the ongoing ‘Operation Akhal’, entered its ninth day on Saturday. The operation, launched on August 1 following credible inputs about terrorist presence, has so far led to the killing of at least one terrorist.
The Chinar Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, praising their courage and dedication. “Their supreme sacrifice will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families,” the Corps stated.
Security forces, including the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG), remain engaged in both Kishtwar and Kulgam, underscoring continued efforts to dismantle militant networks in the region.
