The Indian Army’s Western Command has stepped up large-scale relief operations in flood-affected border areas, reaffirming its crucial role in aiding civilians during natural disasters.
Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), visited the affected regions to personally review rescue efforts and assess the ground situation. His visit highlighted the Army’s commitment to supporting communities hit hard by this year’s intense monsoon rains, which scientists say have worsened due to climate change.

During his inspection, General Katiyar interacted with civilians, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, police, and civil administration officials. He praised the tireless work of Army troops who have been conducting rescue missions around the clock in synergy with local authorities.

General Katiyar reassured affected citizens that the Army would continue extending full support until normalcy is restored. He lauded the soldiers’ dedication, saying their actions exemplify the Army’s ethos of putting the nation first, always and every time.

Relief and rehabilitation measures are expected to continue in the coming days as the border states grapple with the aftermath of the disaster.
