Major General Anuraag Chhibber, SM, VSM, has taken over as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Jodhpur Sub Area, marking an important leadership transition under the Southern Command.
The assumption of command ceremony was attended by senior officers and staff, reflecting both the region’s historic military significance and the Indian Army’s continued commitment to operational excellence.

Major General Anuraag Chhibber is an accomplished officer in the Indian Army, who previously served as Additional Director General (ADG) of Land, Works & Environment (LWE). He is recognized for his expertise in managing defence land and assets, playing a vital role in enhancing the Indian Army’s operational capability and strategic preparedness.
The Jodhpur Sub Area, part of the Southern Command established in 1895, holds a distinguished legacy, having played a vital role in the integration of princely states like Hyderabad and Junagadh post-Independence. Today, its relevance continues with an increased focus on contemporary challenges, including drone warfare, tactical mobility, and technological integration.
The formal ceremony, with military flags and a symbolic command board handover, underlined the Army’s tradition of structured leadership transitions while also emphasizing its readiness to adapt to modern warfare demands.
With Maj Gen Chhibber at the helm, the Jodhpur Sub Area is set to continue its legacy of discipline, professionalism, and operational readiness as a cornerstone of India’s national defence.
