Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM today assumed charge as the 35th Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), succeeding Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM.
Commissioned into the 19 KUMAON Regiment on December 17, 1988, Lt Gen Vats is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has also attended the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad, and the prestigious National Defence College, New Delhi.
Bringing with him extensive operational and leadership experience, the officer is expected to further strengthen the NCC’s role in youth development, discipline, and nation-building.
