The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) celebrated a proud milestone with the ceremonial parade of the Medical Officers Basic Course (MOBC-253) at the AMC Centre & College, Lucknow. A total of 121 young medical and dental officers, including 32 women officers, successfully completed their training, marking their readiness to serve the nation in diverse military and humanitarian missions.
Presiding over the parade, Lt Gen Shivinder Singh, AVSM, Commandant of AMC Centre & College, lauded the graduates for their dedication and urged them to uphold compassion, humility, and professionalism in service.
A seasoned specialist in cardiac anaesthesia and critical care, Lt Gen Singh drew from his 37 years of experience, including his tenure as MG Med at Headquarters Northern Command, to inspire the young officers.
The highlight of the event was the recognition of Major Aishwainee VG from CH (NC), who was adjudged the Best All-Round Officer of the course. Her achievement underscores the rising prominence of women officers in the Armed Forces, aligning with the Ministry of Defenceโs report of a steady increase in female representation in officer ranksโfrom 3% in 2010 to 9.3% in 2023.
The training curriculum of MOBC-253 included military ethos, combat casualty care, and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), preparing officers for high-pressure operational environments. Senior officials and dignitaries attended the event, which concluded with traditional military honors, including the flag ceremony and jubilant tossing of caps.
The AFMS reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing a resilient medical corps capable of addressing the healthcare demands of modern warfare and humanitarian relief. The newly commissioned officers were congratulated for their successful transition and wished a bright future in service to the nation.
