In keeping with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MHA) vision of inter-agency cooperation under the motto ‘Duty to Share’, the National Security Guard’s elite K9 Training Wing at Manesar successfully conducted a comprehensive K9 Training Module from 17 September to 12 October 2025.
Enhancing Inter-Force Collaboration
The four-week training program aimed to strengthen operational synergy and professional skills among Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and State Police organizations. A total of 29 K9 trainers representing CISF, Jharkhand Police, Delhi Police, and Rajasthan Police underwent advanced-level training in specialized K9 disciplines.
Focus on Multi-Domain Capabilities
The module covered intensive sessions on Vapour Wake Detection, Explosive Detection, Tracker, and Assault K9 operations. Each segment focused on real-world counter-terror and law enforcement applications, equipping participants to handle multi-dimensional security challenges across urban and hostile environments.
- Vapour Wake Detection Dogs were trained to detect explosive traces in moving air currents, providing proactive threat identification in crowded areas.
- Explosive Detection Dogs honed their precision in identifying IEDs and concealed explosives.
- Tracker Dogs enhanced their tracking and pursuit efficiency across varying terrains.
- Assault K9s underwent combat-readiness drills to assist in tactical operations.
NSG’s Role as the Nodal Training Agency
Recognized for its unmatched expertise in counter-terror and special operations, the NSG K9 Unit continues to serve as a nodal training agency for developing specialized dog squads across India. The Manesar centre’s infrastructure and experienced handlers ensure that participants receive globally benchmarked exposure and hands-on experience in detection, tracking, and assault operations.

The initiative underscores MHA’s commitment to unified capacity building and operational excellence among India’s law enforcement agencies. It also reinforces the spirit of collaboration under ‘One Force, One Goal – National Security’, ensuring that tactical K9 assets across the nation operate with precision, discipline, and interoperability.
As the NSG aptly encapsulates it “Where Valour Walks on Four Paws” this program reaffirms the critical role of K9 warriors and their trainers in safeguarding the nation against evolving threats.
