In a dignified ceremonial parade held at Visakhapatnam, Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla assumed charge as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Eastern Naval Command (ENC), succeeding Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, who superannuated after an illustrious career in the Indian Navy.
Distinguished Naval Career
Commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1989, Vice Admiral Bhalla is a seasoned officer with a distinguished career spanning over 36 years. A specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare, he has commanded several frontline warships including INS Nishank, INS Taragiri, and INS Beas. He has also served as the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF), leading vital maritime operations and fleet-level exercises in the Eastern Seaboard.

Key Appointments and Expertise
Throughout his career, Vice Admiral Bhalla has held multiple key Command and Staff appointments, contributing significantly to the Navyโs operational and strategic planning. His notable roles include serving as Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command (WNC), Assistant Chief of Personnel (Human Resource Development) at Naval Headquarters, Director of the Maritime Doctrine and Concept Centre (MDCC), and a diplomatic assignment overseas representing Indiaโs naval interests abroad.

Academic Excellence and Recognitions
An alumnus of some of the worldโs most prestigious military institutions, Vice Admiral Bhalla has attended the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), London, the Naval War College, Goa, and the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington. Prior to assuming command of the Eastern Naval Command, he served as Chief of Personnel at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi, overseeing human resource policies and officer development.
