The College of Defence Management (CDM), under the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), successfully conducted a week-long Management Development Programme (MDP) on Research Methodology from 17 to 22 November 2025. The specialised programme was attended by 29 mid-level officers from the Indian Armed Forces.
Focused on strengthening analytical capabilities across the services, the MDP introduced participants to contemporary research concepts, tools, and methodologies essential for modern military leadership.

According to CDM officials, the curriculum was designed to help officers adopt evidence-based decision-making frameworks, a key requirement for addressing todayโs complex operational and organisational challenges.

The programme featured hands-on workshops, case studies, and project-based learning, allowing officers to apply scientific research methods to real-life scenarios within the defence environment. Sessions covered qualitative and quantitative research techniques, data analysis tools, and structured problem-solving frameworks relevant to joint-service contexts.

The initiative reflects CDMโs continuing commitment to strengthening professional military education and equipping officers with the intellectual tools needed to support informed planning, operations, and policy formulation.
