Lieutenant General Zubin A Minwalla has taken over as the Deputy Chief of the Integrated Defence Staff (DCIDS) today, marking an important leadership transition within the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS). He succeeds Lieutenant General Vipul Shinghal, who is set to assume the role of Deputy Chief of Army Staff.
Before this appointment, Lt Gen Minwalla served as the General Officer Commanding of the prestigious Trishakti Corps, where he oversaw key operational responsibilities along Indiaโs sensitive northern and eastern frontiers. His leadership at the Corps level has been widely regarded for its focus on preparedness, integration, and operational synergy.

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (CISC), along with all ranks of HQ IDS, extended their congratulations to both senior officers and conveyed best wishes for their new assignments.
Lt Gen Minwallaโs assumption of charge as DCIDS is expected to ensure continuity in the development of joint doctrines, enhancement of jointness and integration among the three Services, and the strengthening of emerging joint organisational structures. His leadership will play a pivotal role in advancing Indiaโs ongoing military reforms, particularly in the domains of interoperability, theatreisation, and integrated capability development.
This transition comes at a significant time as the Indian Armed Forces continue to push forward with major structural and doctrinal transformations aimed at achieving greater synergy and operational effectiveness across the Services.
