Rear Admiral Srinivas Maddula has taken over as the Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation & Intelligence) [ACNS (FCI)], marking a key leadership transition in the Indian Navy’s strategic and diplomatic vertical. He succeeds his previous appointment as the Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) at Headquarters, Southern Naval Command.
A highly accomplished Flag Officer, RAdm Maddula brings extensive operational and staff experience to his new role. Over the course of his career, he has commanded frontline warships, including a missile vessel and a cutting-edge stealth frigate. His staff tenure includes heading critical directorates as Principal Director of Network Centric Operations and Principal Director of Naval Intelligence — appointments where he played a pivotal role in strengthening India’s maritime information architecture and enhancing cooperation with partner navies.
During his earlier roles, he was instrumental in advancing international maritime partnerships, improving interoperability, and contributing to several cooperative security initiatives in the Indo-Pacific.
As ACNS (FCI), RAdm Maddula will now guide the Indian Navy’s expanding global engagement efforts, focusing on strategic collaboration, foreign cooperation, maritime intelligence sharing, and enhancing India’s naval diplomacy footprint worldwide.
The Flag Officer is an alumnus of the Naval War College, Goa, and a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Marine Corps Command & Staff College — credentials that further underline his strong academic and strategic foundations.
His appointment comes at a time when the Indian Navy is rapidly broadening its international presence, participating in high-end exercises, fostering deeper partnerships, and contributing to a secure and stable maritime environment.
