Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, Vice Chief of the Air Staff, superannuated from the Indian Air Force on December 31, 2025, after completing more than four decades of distinguished and exemplary service to the nation.

Commissioned into the Indian Air Force on June 7, 1986, Air Marshal Tiwari is a highly accomplished fighter pilot and test pilot, with a career marked by operational excellence, strategic leadership, and deep professional competence. Over the years, he held several critical command and staff appointments that significantly contributed to the IAFโs operational preparedness and transformation.

Among his most prominent assignments, Air Marshal Tiwari served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Air Command, where he oversaw major operational formations and played a key role in strengthening combat readiness and joint operational synergy.
An alumnus of prestigious institutions including the Rashtriya Indian Military College, National Defence Academy, and the US Air Command and Staff College, Air Marshal Tiwari exemplified academic excellence combined with operational leadership.

In recognition of his exceptional service, he was conferred several distinguished honours, including the Shaurya Yudh Seva Medal (SYSM), Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), and the Vayu Sena Medal (VM).
As Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Tiwari played a pivotal role in shaping policy, capability development, and operational planning at the highest levels of the Air Force. His superannuation marks the conclusion of an illustrious career that leaves behind a lasting legacy of professionalism, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the nationโs air power.
