Lieutenant General RC Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Eastern Command, delivered an insightful address to participants of the Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC-21) at the College of Defence Management (CDM), Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), focusing on Eastern Commandโs operational strategy amid an evolving security environment.
During his address, Lt Gen Tiwari highlighted the increasing complexity of the contemporary battlefield and underlined the critical importance of joint warfighting, high operational readiness, and seamless integration among the Army, Navy and Air Force. He stressed that future conflicts will be multi-domain in nature, requiring coordinated operations across land, air, maritime, cyber and space domains.

Emphasising leadership in modern warfare, the Army Commander called for agile, adaptive and forward-looking leadership capable of responding swiftly to dynamic threats. He also underscored the role of advanced technologies in enhancing cross-domain operational effectiveness, stating that technological integration would be a decisive factor in future military engagements.
The session concluded with an engaging interaction, during which Lt Gen Tiwari urged future strategic leaders to overcome institutional inertia, broaden their strategic outlook and commit themselves to continuous Professional Military Education (PME).

Lt Gen Tiwari also interacted with officers from Friendly Foreign Countries attending HDMC-21 and the Senior Defence Management Course (SDMC-91), reinforcing Indiaโs commitment to international military cooperation and shared learning in defence management and strategic affairs.
