Vice Admiral Ankur Sharma formally assumed the duties of Director General Naval Projects (Mumbai) on 01 December 2025, marking a significant leadership appointment within the Indian Navy’s technical and project management domain.
In a distinguished career spanning over 36 years, VAdm Sharma has held key afloat and shore appointments, contributing extensively in specialised technical areas critical to naval operations and infrastructure development. Following his promotion to Flag Rank, he served as Director General of Weapons Engineering & Systems Evaluation (DG WESEE) and subsequently as Assistant Director of Naval Dockyard, Mumbai (ASD). He takes over the present assignment from his predecessor with the responsibility of overseeing major naval projects in the Mumbai region.
VAdm Sharma is a recipient of the prestigious Nau Sena Medal, recognising his exceptional service and dedication to the Indian Navy.
