A landmark, record-setting Pan-AFMS Largest Hand Sanitisation Exercise was successfully conducted during ARMEDiCON 2026 at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune on 05 February 2026, earning official recognition from the Asia Book of Records.
Surg Vice Adm Arti Sarin, Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event witnessed the participation of senior AFMS leadership, faculty members, nursing officers, personnel, and medical and nursing cadets of AFMC, reflecting a unified commitment to public health excellence.

The initiative was organised as a significant public-health outreach activity and marked a major highlight of ARMEDiCON 2026. It underscored the importance of hand hygiene as a cornerstone of infection prevention and patient safety, especially within healthcare and operational environments.

Importantly, the record-setting event was conducted to commemorate the Centenary Year of the Military Nursing Service, celebrating 100 years of devoted service, professionalism, and excellence in military nursing. The exercise stood as a tribute to generations of nursing personnel who have served the Armed Forces with compassion, courage, and clinical distinction.
The successful conduct of the exercise reaffirmed the AFMSโs leadership role in promoting best practices in public health, medical education, and preventive medicine, while reinforcing its enduring commitment to innovation, service, and excellence in military healthcare.
