Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi felicitated six distinguished veterans for their exceptional contributions towards veteran welfare, community service and nation-building.
The veterans honoured included Brig RS Grewal (Retd), Col Chander Prakash Vij (Retd), Col Jasdeep Sandhu (Retd), Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Ranjodh Singh (Retd), Capt Parminder Singh (Retd) and Sgt Sanjeev Kumar Goel (Retd).

The Veteran Achievers were recognised for their unwavering commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen and local communities through dedicated social service and developmental initiatives. Their contributions span a wide range of areas, including youth mentorship, educational programmes, healthcare awareness campaigns, heritage conservation and the promotion of civil-military cooperation.
The honoured veterans have played a significant role in supporting veteran rehabilitation efforts, creating employment opportunities for former servicemen and strengthening disaster response mechanisms within their communities. Their initiatives have also helped promote sports excellence and inspire younger generations through examples of resilience, leadership and selfless service.

During the interaction, General Dwivedi acknowledged the veterans’ continued contributions towards nation-building even after retirement from active military service. He lauded their enduring spirit of service and dedication to societal welfare, noting that their efforts reflect the highest traditions and values of the Indian Army.
The Army Chief emphasised that the contributions of veterans remain invaluable in strengthening the bond between the Armed Forces and society. He also highlighted the important role played by retired military personnel in mentoring youth, supporting community development and preserving the ethos of service to the nation.
