The Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army has unveiled a state-of-the-art Integrated Drone Training and Virtual Reality (VR) Observation Post Lab at an altitude of 4,500 metres, marking a major step towards developing future-ready warfighting capabilities in high-altitude operational environments.
The advanced facility has been established to strengthen the Army’s technological edge and enhance battlefield preparedness in some of the world’s most challenging terrain. It combines cutting-edge drone training infrastructure with immersive virtual reality-based simulation systems to provide realistic and mission-oriented training.

The facility integrates advanced Drone Training Nodes with Virtual Reality simulators designed for Infantry personnel, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Mortar Fire Controllers and Artillery Observation Post Officers. The training ecosystem aims to improve surveillance, target acquisition, battlefield awareness and precision engagement capabilities.
By leveraging emerging technologies, the new facility enables personnel to train in realistic operational scenarios while reducing resource expenditure and increasing training effectiveness. The VR-based systems provide immersive battlefield simulations that help troops develop decision-making skills and operational proficiency in a controlled environment.

The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s growing emphasis on technological innovation and the integration of modern warfare tools into training and operational planning. The deployment of drone technology and virtual reality systems is expected to significantly enhance the effectiveness of surveillance, reconnaissance and fire support operations in high-altitude regions.
The facility also strengthens joint operational capabilities by providing specialised training opportunities for personnel from multiple security forces operating in the region.

The inauguration of the Integrated Drone Training and VR Observation Post Lab underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to modernisation, innovation and capability enhancement, ensuring that troops remain prepared to meet evolving security challenges in the high-altitude sectors along India’s northern frontiers.
