The Indian Naval Academy (INA) commemorated National Reading Day 2026 with a series of literary activities at the Panini Library, reinforcing the importance of reading, knowledge acquisition and lifelong learning among cadets and faculty members.
The event was organised to honour P.N. Panicker, widely regarded as the Father of the Library Movement in India, whose efforts played a transformative role in promoting literacy and reading culture across the country.

As part of the celebrations, participants took a Reading Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to cultivating reading habits and pursuing continuous intellectual development. The pledge underscored the role of reading in expanding knowledge, enhancing critical thinking and fostering informed citizenship.
A special Read-Aloud Session was also conducted, encouraging active participation and creating an engaging environment that celebrated the joy of reading and learning. The session highlighted the value of books as a source of inspiration, wisdom and personal growth.
