Officer Remembered for Devotion to Duty

Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami was remembered as a brave officer whose commitment to duty remained unwavering even in extremely demanding operational conditions. The Corps said his indomitable spirit and selfless service would remain an enduring inspiration for all ranks of the Indian Army.

“His unwavering devotion to duty, indomitable spirit and selfless service to the Nation will remain an enduring inspiration to all ranks,” the White Knight Corps stated.

The Army also extended solidarity with the bereaved family, offering prayers for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Incident Took Place in Difficult Terrain

The incident reportedly occurred in the Dorimaal area of the Manjakote forests in Rajouri district, where security forces have been conducting Operation Sheruwali. The region consists of thick forests, rocky tracks, steep slopes and deep gorges, making movement extremely difficult for troops involved in counter-terror operations.

Lieutenant Goswami reportedly slipped and fell into a deep gorge while carrying out operational duties. Rescue efforts were launched, and he was evacuated for medical care. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

The incident highlights the grave risks faced by soldiers not only from enemy action but also from the harsh and unforgiving terrain in which counter-terror operations are conducted.

Operation Sheruwali Continues

Operation Sheruwali has been underway in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri for several days. The operation is aimed at locating and neutralising suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forest belt of Dorimaal and Gambhir Mughalan.

The search operation involves the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies. Drones, sniffer dogs and other surveillance measures have reportedly been used to assist troops in the difficult terrain.

The area has remained under tight security cordon as forces continue combing operations. The dense forests of Rajouri and Poonch have often posed serious challenges to security forces because of their natural cover, steep gradients and limited visibility.

Nation Pays Tribute

The supreme sacrifice of Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami stands as a solemn reminder of the dangers faced by young officers and soldiers deployed in operational areas. Even during search and surveillance duties, troops operate under extreme physical and tactical pressure.

His passing has brought grief to the Army fraternity, but his courage and dedication will continue to inspire fellow soldiers. The White Knight Corps has assured that it stands firmly with the officer’s family in this hour of sorrow.

Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami’s devotion to duty, courage in difficult conditions and service to the nation will be remembered with deep respect.
