Lieutenant General HS Vandra, General Officer Commanding of the Madhya Bharat Area, visited the Long Proof Range, Jabalpur, a premier proof establishment under the Directorate General of Quality Assurance responsible for the dynamic testing and certification of ammunition and weapon systems for battlefield deployment.
During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on the range’s critical role in evaluating and validating the performance, safety and reliability of a wide spectrum of ammunition and armament systems before their induction into service.
Lt Gen Vandra reviewed the testing infrastructure and procedures employed to ensure that weapon systems meet stringent operational and quality standards, thereby contributing to the combat readiness of the Armed Forces.

The General Officer also visited Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK), where he was briefed by the Chief General Manager on the factory’s ongoing operations, production capabilities and key manufacturing lines supporting India’s defence requirements.
The briefing highlighted OFK’s contribution towards the production of critical ammunition and defence equipment, reinforcing the country’s indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem.
Commending the personnel of both the Long Proof Range and Ordnance Factory Khamaria, Lt Gen Vandra appreciated their professionalism, technical expertise and unwavering dedication towards strengthening operational preparedness.
He noted that the efforts of these establishments play a vital role in enhancing the combat effectiveness of the Armed Forces while advancing the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through indigenous testing, certification and defence production capabilities.
The visit underscored the growing synergy between the Armed Forces, quality assurance organisations and defence manufacturing establishments in building a robust, self-reliant and future-ready defence ecosystem for the nation.
