A Pakistani national who had crossed the Line of Control into Indian territory in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district was safely repatriated to Pakistan on 18 June 2026. The individual, identified as Asad Khan, is a resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. He was apprehended on 12 June 2026 in Simari village of Kupwara after crossing the Line of Control.
Following his apprehension, Asad Khan remained in India until the necessary procedures for his return were completed. During this period, he was treated with dignity and compassion, in keeping with the Indian Army’s commitment to humanitarian values and responsible conduct.
After completing the required formalities, the Pakistani national was safely handed over to the Pakistani authorities on 18 June 2026. The repatriation reflects the Indian Army’s emphasis on humanity, responsibility and respect for established procedures while dealing with individuals who inadvertently or otherwise cross the Line of Control.

The safe return of Asad Khan also underscores the Indian Army’s adherence to the highest standards of military professionalism and its longstanding ethos of treating individuals with dignity, irrespective of nationality or circumstances.
