A six-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on Net Assessment concluded successfully at the College of Defence Management (CDM), Integrated Defence Staff, providing Tri-Service officers with valuable insights into strategic analysis and national security planning.
The programme brought together 22 officers from various Tri-Service organisations, who underwent intensive training on the principles and methodologies of conducting Net Assessments in a rapidly evolving geopolitical environment.

During the course, participants examined key aspects of strategic management, geopolitics, national power and emerging security challenges. The curriculum also focused on the application of SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) Analysis as a tool for evaluating strategic environments and informing decision-making processes.
The programme explored evolving national security strategies and the importance of comprehensive assessments in understanding the relative strengths and vulnerabilities of nations, organisations and military forces within a broader geopolitical framework.

Through lectures, discussions, case studies and practical exercises, the officers gained hands-on experience in conducting Net Assessments and applying analytical frameworks to complex security scenarios.
The successful completion of the programme reflects the Indian Armed Forces’ continued emphasis on professional military education, strategic thinking and capacity building to address contemporary and future security challenges.

The College of Defence Management remains a premier institution for developing strategic leadership and management expertise among military officers, contributing significantly to the enhancement of jointness and higher defence management within the Armed Forces.
