Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VM, assumed charge as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) at the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) on 1 July 2026.
Upon taking over the appointment, the Air Marshal paid homage to the nation’s fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

Commissioned into the Indian Air Force in June 1987, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh is a distinguished fighter pilot with over 4,500 flying hours. During his illustrious career, he has commanded a Fighter Squadron, a Radar Station, a major Fighter Base, and served as the Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Jammu & Kashmir.
He has also held several key staff appointments, including Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Offensive), Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Strategy), Senior Air Staff Officer, Eastern Air Command, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff, and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command.

Before assuming the appointment of CISC, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening operational preparedness and combat capability.
His appointment as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff is expected to further enhance jointness, integration and tri-service coordination among the Armed Forces, reinforcing India’s evolving theatre command and joint warfighting capabilities.
