The Young Officers Course for officers of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) concluded at the EME School, Vadodara, on July 14, 2026, marking another successful chapter in the institution’s efforts to develop technically proficient and future-ready military leaders. The course brought together young officers of the Indian Army and officers from the United Republic of Tanzania, reflecting the Indian Army’s commitment to professional military education and international defence cooperation.
Designed to provide newly commissioned and young officers with the technical knowledge, leadership skills and professional competencies required for their future appointments, the Young Officers Course remains an important milestone in the career progression of EME officers. The latest edition of the course witnessed the participation of Indian Army officers alongside two officers from the Tanzania Army, further strengthening military-to-military ties between India and friendly foreign nations. The inclusion of international participants highlights India’s growing role as a partner in defence training and capacity building for friendly foreign countries while promoting professional exchanges and interoperability among armed forces.

Brigadier Saurabh Jain, Officiating Commandant of the EME School, presided over the concluding ceremony and felicitated the officers who distinguished themselves through their exceptional performance during the course. He congratulated the achievers and appreciated the dedication, professionalism and commitment displayed by all participants throughout the training programme.
Captain Madhura Santosh Kunjir was adjudged the Overall Best Student of the course in recognition of her outstanding academic performance, leadership qualities and professional excellence. The prestigious distinction reflects her consistent dedication and exemplary standards demonstrated during the training period.
Among the foreign participants, Lieutenant David Fredrick Mongi of the Tanzania Army was awarded the Medal of Excellence for being the best-performing foreign officer of the course. His achievement highlights the high standards maintained by international officers participating in professional military education programmes conducted by the Indian Army and underscores the strengthening defence partnership between India and Tanzania.
