The automation programme has directly benefited more than 12,000 troops and their families stationed across the Corps’ area of responsibility. By streamlining supply chain management and administrative procedures, the initiative has improved the speed, accuracy and reliability of logistics support, ensuring better delivery of essential services to end users.

The newly introduced automated systems have enhanced transparency across multiple stages of the supply chain while reducing manual intervention and administrative bottlenecks. The digital transformation has optimised time and manpower utilisation, enabling personnel to focus on mission-critical responsibilities and improving the overall efficiency of logistics operations.

One of the most significant outcomes of the initiative has been the substantial saving of approximately 40,000 man-hours every quarter. The reduction in manual processing has accelerated workflow, minimised delays and increased operational productivity, demonstrating the value of technology-enabled logistics management within the Indian Army.

Beyond operational gains, the automation drive has also contributed to environmental sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint associated with traditional paper-based and manpower-intensive processes. The initiative reflects the Army’s growing emphasis on adopting eco-friendly practices alongside technological innovation.

The transformation has resulted in higher levels of end-user satisfaction by making supply and administrative services more responsive, transparent and efficient. It also reinforces the Indian Army’s commitment to leveraging automation and digital technologies to build a future-ready logistics ecosystem capable of supporting modern military operations.

The successful implementation of supply chain automation by the Thar Feeders of Chetak Corps stands as an important example of the Army’s broader efforts to modernise its logistics infrastructure, improve resource management and deliver faster, smarter and more sustainable support to troops and their families.
