Bareilly, July 23, 2026: The Leadership & Management Course conducted at the Junior Leaders Academy (JLA), Bareilly, concluded on 22 July 2026, marking the successful completion of a six-week programme designed to strengthen leadership capabilities among junior military leaders from multiple security forces.
The course brought together Junior Leaders from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Assam Rifles, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), reflecting the growing emphasis on joint training and inter-service cooperation. Throughout the six-week programme, participants underwent intensive instruction aimed at developing operationally relevant leadership competencies essential for modern military operations.
The curriculum focused on enhancing decision-making abilities, leadership skills, resilience, professional ethics, and technological awareness, equipping participants to effectively lead troops in both contemporary and future battlefields. Special emphasis was placed on adapting leadership practices to the rapidly evolving character of warfare, where technological integration, jointness, and operational agility have become increasingly important.
Brig Gaurav Kapoor, Commandant of the Junior Leaders Academy, addressed the graduating participants during the valedictory ceremony. In his address, he highlighted the critical role played by Junior Leaders as the backbone of military formations, emphasizing that their leadership, professionalism, and ability to inspire troops directly influence operational success. He encouraged the participants to uphold the highest traditions of the Armed Forces while embracing innovation and continuous learning throughout their careers.
During the ceremony, Brig Kapoor presented awards to outstanding performers in recognition of their exceptional performance during the course. Havildar Maninder Singh of the Sikh Regiment was adjudged the Best Student, earning accolades for his exemplary leadership qualities, professional competence, and consistent excellence throughout the training programme.
The successful conclusion of the Leadership & Management Course underscores the Junior Leaders Academy’s commitment to developing capable, resilient, and technologically proficient military leaders prepared to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex operational environment. By bringing together personnel from the Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, the programme also strengthened interoperability, fostered professional exchange, and reinforced the spirit of jointness among India’s security forces.
