The Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, marked Van Mahotsav 2026 with a large-scale tree plantation drive, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. The initiative was organised in the spirit of Harela, the traditional festival of Uttarakhand that celebrates nature, greenery and ecological harmony.
The plantation drive was led by Lieutenant General Nagendra Singh, AVSM, YSM, SM, Commandant of the Indian Military Academy, who joined officers, soldiers and their families in the environmental initiative. The event reflected the Academy’s dedication to preserving the environment while fostering a culture of ecological responsibility among future military leaders.
During the campaign, participants planted more than 5,000 saplings across the Academy premises, significantly contributing to the region’s green cover. The large-scale plantation effort aimed to promote biodiversity, improve environmental sustainability and encourage long-term conservation of natural resources.
The enthusiastic participation of soldiers and their families transformed the event into a collective community effort, highlighting the Indian Army’s belief that environmental stewardship is a shared responsibility.
