Newly appointed Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, paid an emotional tribute to his family’s military legacy after formally assuming charge as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff.
Following the ceremonial Guard of Honour at South Block, General Seth saluted his father, Lieutenant General K.M. Seth (Retd.), before touching his feet to seek his blessings. He also sought the blessings of his mother, in a heartwarming display of humility, respect and Indian family values.
The occasion was made even more special as General Seth’s younger brother, Rear Admiral Ravnish Seth, rendered a salute to the new Army Chief, marking a rare moment of pride for a family with a distinguished tradition of military service.
Lt Gen K.M. Seth (Retd.) enjoyed an illustrious career in the Indian Army before retiring in 1997, making the ceremony a poignant reflection of a legacy of service spanning generations.
The touching moments underscored the values of honour, respect and tradition that continue to define the ethos of the Indian Armed Forces, even at the highest levels of military leadership.
