Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Shri Praveer Ranjan visited CISF Unit VSP Visakhapatnam and CISF Unit VPA Visakhapatnam to review security preparedness, training standards and welfare-related initiatives.
The DG CISF was accompanied by senior officers including Smt Binita Thakur, ADG/APS, Shri S R Saravanan, IG/APS-II, Shri S S Mishra, IG/South Sector, Shri M G Raghvendra Kumar, DIG/APSZ, Shri Santosh Singh, DIG/SZ-II and Shri Sudhir Kumar, DIG/Principal Staff Officer to DG/CISF.

During the visit to CISF Unit VSP, Shri Praveer Ranjan was accorded a Guard of Honour. He also held discussions with the Chairman and Managing Director of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited and visited the steel plant to gain an overview of security arrangements and operational requirements at the vital industrial installation.
The DG CISF also participated in a plantation drive, highlighting the importance of environmental responsibility alongside the Force’s core security duties.

At CISF Unit VPA Visakhapatnam, the DG reviewed the Port Security Course training and inspected key areas of the port to assess the security preparedness and operational arrangements in place.
He also interacted with Visakhapatnam Port Authority management, senior CISF officers, the Port Facility Security Assessment team and unit commanders based in Visakhapatnam. The interactions focused on strengthening coordination and ensuring effective security of critical port infrastructure.
During the visit, Shri Praveer Ranjan addressed a joint Sainik Sammelan of CISF units deployed in Visakhapatnam. He emphasised the importance of professional conduct, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility while performing security duties at critical national installations.

The DG CISF stressed the need for continuous skill development and technology upgradation to ensure that personnel remain prepared to deal with evolving security challenges. He also highlighted the importance of functional realignment to improve operational effectiveness and optimise the deployment of available resources.
Shri Praveer Ranjan further emphasised the growing role and contribution of women personnel in the CISF and encouraged the Force to continue providing opportunities for women to take up greater responsibilities across operational and organisational roles.
Personnel welfare also remained an important focus during the interaction. The DG sensitised personnel about the adverse impact of alcoholism, financial distress and unhealthy lifestyles, urging them to maintain physical and mental well-being and adopt responsible personal and professional practices.
The visit reaffirmed the CISF leadership’s focus on strengthening security preparedness at strategic industrial and port installations while simultaneously investing in professional development, technology adoption and the overall welfare of its personnel.
