The Recruit Religious Teachers Course conducted at the Institute of National Integration culminated with a formal passing-out ceremony on 5 August 2026, marking the successful completion of an intensive training programme by 56 Religious Teachers.
The trainees completed 11 weeks of rigorous instruction designed to prepare them for their important responsibilities within the Armed Forces. Religious Teachers play a vital role in providing spiritual guidance, moral support and emotional assistance to military personnel and their families, particularly during periods of operational deployment, personal difficulty and prolonged separation from loved ones.
During the course, the trainees received comprehensive instruction related to their core professional responsibilities. The curriculum also focused on developing the wider skills required to support soldiers serving in demanding operational and administrative environments.
In addition to religious and spiritual duties, the trainees were provided specialised instruction in psychological counselling, stress management and yoga. These subjects are increasingly important in helping personnel manage the mental and emotional pressures associated with military service.

The psychological counselling component equipped the Religious Teachers with the ability to recognise signs of emotional distress, provide preliminary support and guide personnel towards professional assistance whenever required. Their close interaction with troops places them in a unique position to identify concerns at an early stage and contribute to the overall well-being of military personnel.

Training in stress management introduced the participants to practical methods of helping individuals cope with professional pressure, family-related concerns and the challenges of serving in difficult terrain and weather conditions. The trainees were also taught techniques aimed at improving emotional resilience and maintaining a positive outlook.
Yoga formed another significant component of the programme. Through regular practice and instruction, the Religious Teachers learned methods that can help personnel improve concentration, physical fitness, emotional balance and mental calmness. The inclusion of yoga reflects the emphasis placed on adopting a holistic approach towards the health and well-being of soldiers.
The Institute of National Integration plays an important role in preparing Religious Teachers to serve personnel from diverse cultural, regional and religious backgrounds. The training encourages mutual respect, unity and an inclusive approach while reinforcing the values of discipline, harmony and national integration.
Religious Teachers serve as an important link between commanders and troops by offering confidential guidance and moral support. Their responsibilities extend beyond conducting religious ceremonies, as they frequently assist personnel dealing with stress, bereavement, family problems and other personal challenges.
The successful completion of the course by 56 trainees represents an important milestone in their military careers. Having undergone structured training in spiritual guidance, counselling, stress management and yoga, the newly trained Religious Teachers are now better prepared to contribute to the morale, mental resilience and emotional welfare of personnel across formations.
The passing-out ceremony celebrated the dedication and perseverance displayed by the trainees during the 11-week programme. It also highlighted the Armed Forces’ continued emphasis on the psychological, spiritual and emotional well-being of personnel alongside operational preparedness and professional excellence.
