Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, AVSM, VSM, Army Commander, Southern Command, felicitated the Southern Command Athletics Team following its outstanding performance in the Army Inter Command Athletics Championship 2026–27, conducted under the aegis of the Indian Army Sports Control Board at the Artillery Centre, Hyderabad.
The Southern Command team emerged as champions after delivering a dominant performance throughout the championship, displaying exceptional athletic ability, discipline and teamwork against participants from Army Commands across the country.
The team finished the championship with an impressive tally of 23 medals, comprising 8 Gold, 12 Silver and 3 Bronze, highlighting its consistency and excellence across various track and field events.
Congratulating the athletes, coaches and support staff, Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar praised their dedication, perseverance and relentless pursuit of excellence. He noted that their remarkable achievement reflected the professionalism and fighting spirit that define the Indian Army.
The Army Commander encouraged the team to continue striving for higher standards in future competitions and to uphold the same winning spirit in national and inter-service sporting events. He also acknowledged the invaluable contribution of the coaching and support staff in nurturing talent and preparing athletes to perform at the highest level.
