Students from Sikkim’s Mangan district visited New Delhi as part of a National Integration Tour organised with the support of the Indian Army, giving the young participants an opportunity to experience the country’s capital and interact with senior military leadership.
The tour brought students from the mountainous region of Sikkim to the heart of the national capital, exposing them to different aspects of the country’s cultural, social and national landscape.
During their visit, the students interacted with the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Delhi Area. The interaction focused on encouraging cultural exchange, mutual understanding and meaningful engagement among the youth.
The GOC interacted with the students and encouraged them to make the most of the exposure provided by the tour. Such interactions are aimed at broadening the outlook of young students while strengthening their connection with people and institutions from different parts of India.
National Integration Tours organised by the Indian Army are intended to provide students, particularly those from remote and border regions, an opportunity to visit important places across the country and gain first-hand exposure to India’s diversity, development and institutions.
The initiative involving students from Mangan district reflects the Indian Army’s continuing emphasis on promoting national integration and engaging with communities in remote regions.
By facilitating interactions and cultural exposure, the Army seeks to encourage young participants to become ambassadors of national unity and contribute positively towards nation-building.
The tour also underlines the Indian Army’s broader role in youth empowerment and community outreach, particularly in strategically important border states such as Sikkim.
