Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar, AVSM, VSM, Army Commander, Southern Command, visited key military establishments in Bengaluru to review operational effectiveness, logistics preparedness, training standards, administration and welfare initiatives, with a strong focus on technology-driven capability enhancement and self-reliance.
During his visit to Headquarters Karnataka & Kerala Sub Area (KKSA), the Army Commander reviewed the formation’s operational and administrative preparedness. He was also briefed on welfare initiatives being undertaken for veterans and Veer Naris. Lt Gen Pushkar appreciated the formation for its sustained efforts towards maintaining high standards of readiness while supporting the military community.
At the Army Service Corps (ASC) Centre & College, the Army Commander reviewed ongoing training initiatives and infrastructure upgrades aimed at providing holistic Basic Military Training to Agniveers. He examined the incorporation of modern technology into training methodologies and commended the institution for maintaining high standards.
Addressing personnel, Lt Gen Pushkar urged all ranks to continue striving for professional excellence and remain mission-ready to meet evolving security challenges.
Technology and indigenous defence capabilities formed another major component of the visit. At 515 Army Base Workshop, the Army Commander reviewed projects involving 3D printing, additive manufacturing and drone manufacturing. He appreciated the workshop’s contribution towards indigenisation, innovation and sustainment support for the Indian Army.
Lt Gen Pushkar also visited NewSpace Research & Technologies in Bengaluru, where he witnessed demonstrations of state-of-the-art drone and counter-drone systems under development. He appreciated the organisation’s contribution towards strengthening indigenous defence capabilities and advancing the goal of Atmanirbharta in critical military technologies.
The engagements highlighted Southern Command’s continuing emphasis on operational preparedness, modernised training, technology infusion, indigenous innovation and capability enhancement as the Indian Army prepares to address emerging operational and security challenges.
