A two-day Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) 2025 programme was inaugurated on 11 December 2025 by Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), at the Artificial Limb Centre (ALC), Pune. The event brought together rehabilitation experts, clinicians, researchers and professionals from across the country to deliberate on advancements in amputee care and rehabilitation.
During the inauguration, Surg VAdm Sarin, along with Lt Gen Pankaj P. Rao, Director & Commandant of AFMC and Colonel Commandant of the AMC, launched several key initiatives—including a 3D-printed CRE memento, the quarterly newsletter STRIDE, and a comprehensive Patient Compendium. These releases aim to streamline knowledge sharing, highlight innovations, and document best practices in prosthetic and rehabilitation sciences.
Welcoming the delegates, the Commandant of ALC Pune outlined this year’s theme, Improving Outcomes in Amputee Rehabilitation, emphasising the need to integrate advanced technologies and patient-centric approaches to enhance quality of life for amputees.
The programme also featured a keynote address by Ms Sminu Jindal, renowned industry leader and accessibility advocate, who highlighted the importance of inclusive infrastructure, innovation, and policy support in improving rehabilitation standards nationwide.
A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Additive Manufacturing Lab at ALC. Equipped with modern 3D-printing capabilities, the facility is expected to significantly improve precision, efficiency, and accessibility in prosthetic fabrication—marking a major leap forward in personalised rehabilitation solutions for defence personnel and civilians alike.
The CRE 2025 programme will continue with technical sessions, expert lectures and hands-on workshops focused on driving innovation and enhancing rehabilitation outcomes across India.
