Rajesh Kumar Singh, IAS, Defence Secretary of India, visited Bhuj and interacted with Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, along with other senior officers of the Konark Corps. The discussions focused on the prevailing security environment, infrastructure development, logistics framework, and the future capability roadmap in the strategically significant Creek Sector.
The visit was aimed at reviewing measures to further strengthen operational readiness and border security in the region. Detailed briefings were conducted on surveillance, force deployment, logistics sustainment, and infrastructure augmentation being undertaken to enhance preparedness along the sensitive frontier.

During the visit, the Defence Secretary toured the Joint Control Centre, a key operational facility designed to synergise inputs from multiple surveillance sensors in the area. The centre enables the creation of a unified and real-time surveillance picture, significantly enhancing situational awareness and decision-making capabilities for ground commanders operating in the sector.
As part of the visit, the Defence Secretary also inaugurated the Monumental Flag, symbolising national pride, unity, and the firm resolve to safeguard the nationโs borders. He later witnessed a comprehensive operational display showcasing new-generation weapon systems and equipment, highlighting the Indian Armyโs growing emphasis on technological infusion, modernisation, and indigenisation.
The visit reaffirmed the Government of Indiaโs continued focus on strengthening jointness among the Armed Forces, accelerating infrastructure development in border areas, promoting indigenisation under national initiatives, and building future-ready, resilient, and technologically advanced military capabilities to address emerging security challenges.
