Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS), visited Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration in technology-driven modernisation of the Indian Army.

During the visit, detailed discussions focused on leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cybersecurity and electronic warfare to strengthen indigenous defence capabilities and support the Army’s evolving operational requirements.

The VCOAS toured key research facilities, including the Helicopter & VTOL Laboratory, UAV Laboratory, and C3iHub, where cutting-edge developments in drone technologies and cybersecurity solutions were showcased. He appreciated IIT Kanpur’s sustained efforts in developing niche, high-impact technologies relevant to defence applications.

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh expressed confidence that continued Army–academia synergy would lead to innovative, indigenous solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and self-reliance.
The visit reaffirmed IIT Kanpur’s growing role in defence innovation and its strengthening partnership with the Indian Army in building future-ready capabilities through research, development and collaboration.
